Hiding your mini-amp

HOW DARE YOU!!! The early double baffle B-15 cabs are not muddy at all. They are pretty flat for a cab with a single 15". And even the Thiele cabs of the 70's weren't muddy for a cab that has nothing past 2k and a huge low mid. True, they won't do the icepick tones that you go for, but nobody wants that :spit::p

As for the butt ugly remark, I'm just going to pretend I didn't hear that. :scowl:

:D

Just funnin' with you:p:D

I've been toying with the idea of designing some custom vinyl appliques for the front panels of amps like the LMII. You know, those non-adhesive reusable static-cling stickers (like they used to make "Colorforms" out of). First I'd have to see how easy it is to remove the knobs off the contols in front, and then trace an accurate template of the front panel, including all holes for the controls, screws, LEDs, etc.

well you could give it to me.. and you'll never have to look at it again :D

id likely pop all the knobs off and make a veneer out of blue painters tape. you can write on it.. document your settings. and when you want rid of it, no glue residue. ive done it to the faces of my pedals before. its nice.

AND, since its blue, they will match.

Sorry if I missed it somewhere in the wealth of great ideas in the last 4 pages, but did anybody suggest putting a handtowel or washcloth over it? Don't cover the back so it can still vent. Nothing irreversable and you probably have just the right one waiting for you in the closet so you don't have to spend money.

I think the custom front plate from that plate company would be boss. A guy with a little photoshop action could make a super classy front plate. There could be a really nice collection of silver metal knobs stuck on there to class it up.

I just shake my head, here's one of the most popular amp lines on the planet, but at the same time its the ugliest looking thing out there IMO. Followed by the Michael Pope preamp. People, when designing equipment, make it classy, or make it utilitarian, but lets leave your crayons in the kid's schoolbag when looking for product identification. It just makes a fine product look cheap.

The smartest thing MB could do is offer an upgrade plate themselves.

A lot of good suggestions still coming in...some a little more expensive than what I'd like to spend ;) Thanks for the ideas, folks...now I just need to sort out all this info.

Suggestion #1 - Black gaff tape, Dymo labeler w/white letters over clear tape, replacement knobs that don't look like Big Bird's balls.

Suggestion #2 - A variation on other's - Check around pawn shops, used music stores, electronics repair shops for the cheapest head you can find some repair shops have old gear graveyards. Gut the head you now have an empty cabinet to stick your head in. Combine it with option 1 if you want a big box and no hideous yellow knobs and graphics.

Dam, you guys still playin "hide the amp" with Jimmy?

I dont know all your criteria or if anyone's already suggested this: But if it had rack ears, couldn't you just somehow hang it off the rear side with a nice black Bungee cord hooked around the cab handles and into the rack ear holes?
(dude... it'd be shock-mounted... :smug:

Good point, and bungee cords are cheap! I'll have to wat till I get home to try it, but I think we may have a winner ;)
