Just received a Broughton "Low+High pass filter".
Generally where should you run this in the signal chain? Pre compressor or right before the DI?
There's another discussion, I hit my hpf first, but my compressor is built into a short signal chain and I can't get between the different functions. The latter…
Haha thanks man. I'm sorry all. I didn't want to make you angry about me and my posts. I just wanted to discuss different point of views, no offence for anybody. And thank you for understanding.
And that's make sense. Thanks. I thought that if cab has slope below low freq response then it works like a kind of HPF. And if it not work that way then you have right. Too much those freq can make some destruction for speakers and sound but always? I don't think so. With high volumes I never need to boost bass on my amp higher than flat. Sometimes even about 11 o'clock because more volume=more bass anyway. But yes. Any external HPF give you confidence for sure and that's the truth. I only wonder why bass gear manufacturers don't make preamps or amps with adjustable HPF or even LPF. Except Mesa and maybe less known companies probably nobody add HPF to their pedals or amps/preamps.
In mixing consoles yes. I know that. But we know from this topic that built-in HPF in amps is not enough because you use external stomp-box anyways. So I guess built-in is not enough to protect cab. I really tried to find pedal with adjustable HPF fromwell-known brands and I can't. Noble preamp has HPF at 90hz, Radial Bassbone has switch with HPF too. There's a lot of parametric eq's, most of them like Boss have graphic eq but no HPF/LPF options. So it's not so popular in pedal/preamp/amp thing.Selectable or adjustable HPFs are built into many, if not most, mixing consoles and preamp pedals (Fishman for example). It's NOT just boutique or 'unknown' companies.

Still, there are different to use it.
It might be, but you might have other requirements...In mixing consoles yes. I know that. After all those comments you showed me that I was wrong with HPF idea in cabs and amps so I really thought about this topic yesterday and now I think HPF can make sense in any situation but it's hard to find other HPF in preamp/stomp-box Broughton pedal. And I asked on Polish bass forums about HPF idea and most of users use HPF, yes, but in studio application not during gigs on stage. It might be, but you might have other requirements...

That's a good idea! Thanks. Where can I find this schematic? For starters, look at pedals from Fishman, Mesa, and Genzler.
And then of course there's the DIY option. @fdeck has published the schematic for a couple of his HPFs so that anyone who wants to build one can, and I am very close to releasing a non commercial open source one with PCBs readily available through a reputable board fabrication vendor. Mine will be using some surface mount parts, so it may not be ideal for beginning DIYers.

Thanks! I'll talk with some guys who make their own pedals and maybe they help to build that.
