Interesting unit.

What's the point of some of these units having volume controls? The last thing I could envision is wanting to adjust sound (particularly accidentally with my feet) another place in my signal chain.

There only audible with the HPF on.

Yep. The difference between putting them in front of the preamp and in the effects loop bears this out. One in the Effects loop seems to be the sweet spot so far for me. I can go two but have to compensate a bit with the bass level a bit so I assume the cutoff freq is moving up. In front of the preamp you see a noticeable level loss using both.2 in series won't work as intended, the frequency and slope will not add as expected because the filter expects a low source impedance. Passive filters are tricky like this.
So after having my Broughton for a few weeks and a few rehearsals into it, I can say that I should have bought one of these gizmos years ago! So happy to have eliminated most if not all the bloom inherent in my sound and as a bonus, to me anyway, I have noticed a significant increase in growl in my basses tone.
I am assuming that it has always been there, just being masked by the overwhelming bloom.
Happy camper here...

Why specificly do you want resonant peaks?Sorry To ask, maybe already asked but not enough strong to read the 74 pages ... ( usually I am enjoying reading long threads)
DO high pass and low pass filters with resonnant peaks exist on the market in pedal format ?
I guess something like filter based preamp indeed ...

There was a post in the Broughton thread from someone who ordered a custom LPF with adjustable boost at the filter cutoff frequency, like Alembic onboard filters. There is also Iron Ether Xerograph (the non-deluxe version without envelope follower) which has a resonance control. Probably others as well.Sorry To ask, maybe already asked but not enough strong to read the 74 pages ... ( usually I am enjoying reading long threads)

I wish too somebody would issue an Alembic SF-2 in pedal format.....

Some wah-wah pedal variations do that. They can do frequency notches, some do peaks, that is are shiftable bandpass. Rocking the pedal shifts the frequency. Some use it by leaving the pedal in a fixed position.
Read the paragraph near the top, “What a wah does is clear.....”
The Technology of Wah Pedals
The rumor mills have said that Broughton will be releasing one. All I can say is, if you're planning on getting in the queue for one, be prepared to have your 'dreams crushed.'
Yes Thanks it is the same effet. But in a wah pedal the amont of boost at the peak is fixed
Uhm,Your speakers will appreciate not having to bare the load of ultra-low frequencies that only whales could truly appreciate in the first place.![]()
