Not to pick, but Siggy would not go to Valhalla. Valhalla is Odin's hall for half of the men that died in battle and Valkyrie's only, the other half go to Freyja's field, Folkvangr .

Women would have possibly gone to Helgafjell or Hel.

The writers do a pretty good job of following the mythology properly.

Bah! Do you think Rollo would chop off her head??? If he forsakes her, there is nothing much for her in Kattegat really. She only stayed because Lagertha showed her an initial kindness and then Rollo scooped her up. She was preparing to flee before that. Although now she is part of the place I suppose but outside of Rollo she doesn't seem to have any friends except Horik!

Hey, if Rollo caught her in the sack with Horik it would make for convenient time to kill Horik and/or her. Rollo is ready to move on...she was his "transition partner".

I let out a big "WHAT" when Ragnar agreed to work with Borg - I'm glad it turned out to be a clever plot against him, and his men. That guy is really out there with that skull of his 1st wife he has his wife carry around for him - freak show indeed.

I loved when Lagertha grabbed that knife, and stuck it in that drunken Earl's eye, and then got beheaded by his own men!

We also found out that King Horik likes to watch ...

Totally! I loved how they turned that whole thing into a secret plot, it threw us all off, a brilliant and surprise move that put Ragnar back into: "suck it Borg" status!

Loved Lagertha poking Sigvard's eye out too! He was way over due for a knife in a body part for sure. Now...let us see how she puts Hedeby back into proper order! They will all love to follow her instead of Sigvard the Drunken sicophant I'm sure!

Yes..Horik likes to watch ...maybe it is a Viking thing?? hahaah! His son though?? Kinda whacked but times were different and they had much more open attitudes about sex those folks!

Ok so today I've been thinking that Ragnar is gonna be burning to find out what happened to Athlestan, don't you guys think?

The first question Ragnar asked of everyone with news out of Wessex, was 'What of Athlestan?" No one seems to care about Ahtlestan, but Ragnar does.

So far Horik has not shown himself to be a very valuable "ally", in fact the man is hurting things more than helping, so how is he at all a valuable asset to Ragnar?? He needs to pony up and prove his worth pretty soon or Ragnar might just tell him to go suck it too.

So when Horik and Ragnar go back to Wessex in one of the next coming episodes. My guess: Ragnar is going back primarily to look for Athlestan. Horik is going back for revenge. I think maybe Ragnar is about done with Horik.

I have to wait until Friday to watch it because the History channel.com doesn't air it until the next day :(

Wow, there was a lot going on in that episode.

Floki is feeling a little put upon as Mr. Solid Go-To Man. The emotions of fatherhood and marriage are bubbling up on Mr. Detached Jokerman. Remember that Ragnar's brother Rollo almost killed him. Ragnar needs to reward his right-hand man.

Pot calling the kettle black moment: Ragnar tells Bjorn to think with his big head and not with his johnson. Roll your eyes back in your head and say "duh!".

I was fully expecting Horik to let Jarl Borg walk. Lots of characters complain about Ragnar thinking that the gods are paying special attention to him. The "other ally" (Lagertha) shows up just in time allowing Ragnar to execute Jarl Borg without breaking his word to Horik. It must be divine intervention. The blood eagle execution was just as horrific as you thought it would be. See ya, Jarl.

Rollo has wised up to Siggy but didn't chop her head off as I expected. She's still got him wrapped around her little finger.

Horik is now very threatened by Ragnar and is plotting accordingly.

Meanwhile, Northumbria and Wessex ally themselves the old school way: royal inter-marriage. They will probably crush a neighboring kingdom to warm up for the next Viking incursion. The Horik-Ragnar-Lagertha raiding party may get a surprising reception when they land. Lagertha has seen English plunder and wants a piece of the action. Be careful what you wish for.

Interesting too how Ragnar told Rollo 'because he is the King' when Rollo asked him why he keeps giving concessions to Horik.

I don't think Ecbert is all in on his alliance with Aella, despite the arranged marriage.

I think it's a personal affront to Ecbert that he can't protect Wessex from Viking raids. For whatever reasons that weren't shown or elaborated on, he let King Horik and his royal party escape from the last incursion to raid another day.
I'm sure that Ecbert thinks he can deal the Vikings a crushing and well-publicised blow with his Wessex-Northumbria alliance forces. Then, he believes that other Viking raiders will target elsewhere. I'm sure that Ecbert knows (with Athelstan's help, of course) that there is no central Viking government to crush that is in charge of these raids.
I'm sure that Ecbert is thinking that, once he gets his crushing victory, he can always "re-visit" his alliance with King Aella.

I don't understand why Floki is suddenly not so thrilled with Ragnar?? I mean not even to invite him to the wedding?? That was out of the blue and poor writing as far as i am concerned. There was no event or slight to Floki by Ragnar and they have risen together although maybe Floki is feeling put off by the warmer relationship between Rollo and Ragnar? But still...there is no reason to suddenly have Floki turn against Ragnar, it is a stupid move. It came out of no where...Ragnar should have been at his wedding. And what is all this uncharacteristic behavior from Ragnar (drunk and shooting arrows at strangers?? that is not the Ragnar we know)

I think the Blood Eagle was also not the best course of action Ragnar could have taken, it was just a little too much even for the heartiest among them to have that happen. If people thing Ragnar is unscrupulous it bodes bad for his leadership. Is he getting too big for his britches?? Because for the past two seasons, the writers have convinced us that Ragnar is smart, sane, and a kind and strong leader. All of a sudden he is turning into a jerk?? I don't like it, not one bit.

This whole episode stunk as far as i am concerned and dimmed the joy I would have felt at the return of Lagertha because Hirst has all his characters pulling fast ones all over the place with no reason or explanation about it.

Come on Michael Hirst, keep your characters true! This is bull-s**t

The preview for next week shows Horik attempting to get Floki to come to work building boats for him.

The relationship between Ragnar and Bjorn is curious too. First Ragnar asks him to stay, then he keeps him at arms length. It does seem like they are creating more storylines to build from.

The scene of Ragnar shooting arrows with his buddy while drunk was odd to me too. Rollo shows up ready to talk business, and there is his brother, the leader, acting like a fool. I still think Rollo makes his move at some point, maybe with Horik's backing as Borg suggested.
