Good call, and now we know why Ragnar banded the ragtag crew together to head off to Wessex for the last time: “this was my idea to come here to die”.
So sad – a man fallen from his people, and hated.
Looks like Floki is impressed by Islam. The other sons are putting together a revenge plan, and the seer told Lagertha that she would be killed by one of Ragnar's sons.
The Seer hasn't been wrong yet.
We know Lagertha is in season five, so we'll have her into next season.
She's not even enough to get me to watch, so knocking her off will be another nail in the coffin for me.

Odin pays a visit to each of the sons confirming their Fathers death as Lagertha is concerned that of one of them is going to kill her, and tells Astrid that she won’t be able to stop them while Ivar dreams of gouging her eyes out.
Meanwhile, “Queen” Lagertha is busy fortifying Kattegat against attackers because it will become the biggest trading center in Norway, but what roll will the sons play?
Helga realizes that she wants more out of life; something meaningful after she is gone, and wanted a child with Floki, but found a surragate in the girl she’s protecting and Floki is indeed intrigued by Islam … so much so he told Harald “no more killing”.
Ecbert/Aethelwulf fear an attack, and Harald is thinking of how to conquer the Lothbroks to be King of Norway.

Looks like next week it is going down. The "Great Heathen Army" is going to England. I doubt that girl that Helga brought back will assimilate. Floki knows it, and knows it was a mistake to bring her back. Harald is slowly putting the pieces together...and I think he and his brother will eventually succeed. I think what will happen is they will overthrow Lagertha at some point.

Watching Lagertha whine and cry about Ragnar was totally out of her character. This is the same women who cut off a man's nuts and stabbed her husband in the stomach on their wedding day in her quest for power.
Rollo dancing around Algeciras like he was in an amusement park as he killed people, lame.

I agree with 99% of that ^ but for some reason, I still enjoyed it (4.16) and watched it 3 times.
Floki's behavior bugs me. A lot. This is a guy who had ZERO tolerance for any religion not his, and he suddenly is intrigued by this one? I hate to say it, but it kind of seems like an attempt to send a message. That's all I'll say on that.
I don't know why Harold Finehair is following Floki's instructions when it came to who and who not to kill. Finehair's brother wasn't too thrilled with it either.
I hope the focus for the remainder of the series is more on the sons of Ragnar and less on Lagertha.

I just finished watching The Great Army. Not as weak as the previous episode, but I just can't get into Lagertha as the main character.
In previous seasons she was great, but her character just seems different to me now. Not as charismatic, confident.
When I watched the opening credits, her name was first. No mention of Travis.
What the heck Bjorn? You were so unhappy with your dad when he cheated on Lagertha, now you go and have sex with your mom's girlfriend?
That dirty look from Astrid when Lagertha introduced her only as a shield maiden. Trouble brewing in that relationship.
I think King Harald is preparing to take out Lagertha.
Hirst mentions several times Rollo is still a big part of season five, but that sure felt like the end of his character tonight. I was really hoping he'd join the attack on Ecbert and Aella, but Bjorn made it clear that won't happen.

It was hilarious when Princess Polanski punched Rollo in the nose.
Yeah it was. Viking men don't take kindly to that treatment from women, so I was surprised he just stood there and walked away.
That Floki stuff is still bothering me. For me, he's always been 'the guy', the consumate Viking on the show.
When Rollo called him out on the boat, I was hoping right then Bjorn would have put an arrow in his chest.
I need to go back and watch that scene again. I forget what Bjorn said when Rollo said he should have killed Rollo when he had the chance.
Perhaps Bjorn is mulling over Rollo's offer, or he needs to keep Rollo alive for safe passage to the Mediterranean again.

I also don't care to see Ivar doing the crawling with spikes thing again. It worked okay the first time. The second was aiming for the same dramatic effect and it was lost on me. I don't buy the looks on others' faces of fear combined with wonderment either.
Yet I still love the character and the actor's portrayal.

^ Yes, and Ivar sure loves his new chariot Floki built for him, but I wonder what Bjorn was thinking while watching him race by from behind the tree. He's like a kid with his first new car.
Lagertha wasn't very happy when Ubbe freed Margrethe, and walked her right past her, but wait until she finds out about Astrid and Bjorn. I'm sure she 'll keep most of her anger inside being busy fortifying Kattegat, but her relationship with Astrid may be on the rocks like Mike said.
Aelle shouldn't have been downplaying his daughter's pleas to make the pit where Ragnar died a sacred place, and seems almost oblivious to the level of attack that's coming while Egbert thinks he's in the clear. She tried to stress the importance of Ragnar, and what he was to his people, but the arrogant King wouldn't listen.
Next week looks great - can't wait for that!

I wouldn't put too much thought into who's name is first on the credits. That's all political/business between lawyers, agents, and the show. Kathryn Winnick may get first billing, but it's the Sons of Ragnar show now. She is simply the biggest star on a show with no real stars. She had a longer IMDB page than Travis Fimmell when the series started, but he was clearly the main character. Now there really isn't a main character, unless it's Ivar.

Ok I am still catching up, and I have to say that I agree with you guys, something is off the rails here.
I was horrified at the way they killed Ragnar off, just horrified. But...in true Viking form he handled that torture incredibly well. He never called out, cried or yelled. He kept his display of discomfort and pain to minimum to keep them from having the satisfaction. The whole thing made my stomach sick though. No more Ragnar??

Yes Ecbert seems to be losing his mind, he looked like a ghost in that scene where he is talking to Judith and his son. I am not done watching the episode where they land in that Muslim place but how WEIRD in the mosque!! In walks Floki, they take no notice, ok he was pretty quiet but then a band of wild, hairy, axe wielding strangers enter the place and cut the priests head off and not a single person shows a single bit of alarm???!!! They don’t even look up?? I mean really, that was a bit ridiculous. Are we to believe they are in such a religious trance that they did not notice the dude was beheaded?? I don’t think that prayers in the Muslim tradition render them totally deaf, blind and dumb. So that was really silly.
I also agree that Floki must not understand that these people worship one god, and not many. He hated that about the Christians. I’m not done watching but I gather from your posts above that Helga brings that little girl back. I also thought it was odd for Helga to have gone with them and for her to be unarmed, untrained to fight, but just waltzing around the battle scene as if she is on vacation. That was weird.
It’s all weird, and Lagertha seems to be finally allowing herself to feel how much she loved Ragnar and how sad she is about them breaking up. Maybe while he was gone she realized how much she missed and loved him. I dunno. Gotta finish tat episode but I am not as riveted by the show any more. It’s a little boring and the damn commercials on the History Channel are a drag. Every 6 minutes there is a commercial break and the commercials are as long as the segments of the show so it takes twice as long to get through and episode.

Just watched tonight's episode. I felt like it was 2/3rd's Medieval General Hospital before we got to the "Great Heathen Army" landing. Some of it ok...some of it drawn out. But, I think next week we will see more action. For those who have not seen it yet...I will not post any spoilers.
