Yarl Borg doesn't seem to have that many men....I look forward to seeing him get his butt and his head handed back to him in small chopped pieces.

I agree with you totally on Horik. He is a hot head and a fool.

Ragnar is softening. He wants to farm, and see his people fed. He loves his family and he has a kind heart (as weird as that is given the man is quite the killer) but his character is complex. He has this sixth sense about him. He is fierce but also kind and fair. Horik on the other hand is just a selfish, greedy, old man.

It was nasty what he did to that bishop and cutting off the head of the guy when they first spoke to the men of Wessex. After Ragnar asked to speak in peace. Horik is a jerk and I think he is setting Ragnar up to fail. I don't trust him and I hope the English get rid of him.

I too look forward to Jarl Borg being handed his butt in little pieces!! He picked on the wrong guy! Go after Horik not Ragnar! I can hardly wait for next week. There are no spoilers around either. How is Ragnar going to get himself out of this one???

HA! Yes...you for sure are covered! Where in the north is your family from? Have you traced your line back to someone cool??

I am not a viking, but I see many similarities between them and my mother's people who it seems met the Vikings along the St. Lawrence River in Canada at least 500 years before Columbus arrived in America. My family goes back hundreds of years to french trappers and Metis Native people's along the Lawrence River. (we are Metis and I've traced us back to Siberia) It seems as though the vikings that found their way to New Foundland came well into contact with the Mic Mac, Metis Natives.

I'm born, raised and still live in norway (and not going anywhere), and my lineage is Norwegian a far back as I can trace it.

I liked last nights episode. The plots are moving along at a fast pace, but there is a lot more to keep up with compared to last season. I hope the quality of the show does not suffer as they continue to expand all these storylines.

I don't much care for the Rollo/Siggy storyline. I thought the dialog around the fire about how Rollo has changed was corny.

I wasn't surprised Horik chose to stay in England. He knew what Ragnar was going back to, so let Ragnar go do his dirty work for him. Who knows, maybe Horik sells out like I think Athlestan will and betray Ragnar when he gets back to England.

Very cool~~ I have wondered how people endure the long dark winter up there?

I think one of many impressive things about Norse tradition is the governance. I have a friend from Iceland, and I have been continually impressed by the way they govern themselves.

Also the spirituality much like my Canadian Native tradition (earth based, pagan...) holds a lot of wisdom.

How great to see a movement to restore and abide in the Old Norse way of spirituality. Are you a fellow of Asatrufellesskapet?

I still am not sure why Athlestan chose to stay. Did he think he cold rejoin the English? Try to convince them he was once one of them and return to his Christian ways? I was pretty convinced he was sincere in his shift to paganism. The gods surely punished him for his foolish choice to not go with Ragnar! I bet he is wishing he went with Ragnar now! Crucifixion??? That was just awful!!

I think the Fall of Rollo was necessary, because now we are routing for him that he has become useful again. They probably realized that they needed someone there when Jarl Borg went back for revenge and it being Rollo really works because now he has closure for the plot line that unfurled at the end of season 1. It is all working pretty well.

I am jonzing for the next episode! Dying to see what happens with Ragnar and Lagertha. It seems like they are really sticking with the saga, which means Ragnar has one more wife to acquire and perhaps he and Lagertha will not get back together.

I don't want to see the snake pit thing if they really stick with his historical story~~

Yes, I am a member of Bifrost, but for me it's more of a philosophy rather than a religion. I don't take part in most of the rituals, but it is a good way too meet other people who have much of the same view on the world, our place in nature and how to treat others with respect and dignity.

As for the winters? I love the cold, and the passing of seasons. I can't imagine having it any other way. :)

And yes, you are right, there is a lot of wisdom in the old ways, sadly forgotten by so many today.

I also work as a farm hand, so the different times of year are very close to me every day, I'm always outside interacting with the elements. I find it's a very "real" way of living. :)

Sadly we lost a lot as the human race. To toss out our connection to the earth that made us was not smart.

We are going to pay the price. We already are. Humans have lost their vigor and strength, their wisdom and integrity. Watching shows like this makes me remember where we came from. All of us. Makes me long for some other time and some other place.

Im most excited to see how all of his sons are born. When I did my family tree I never understand why he had like 8 sons and they all went to conquer in different directions. I figured they would all stay togther but, Im thinking his sons mother will give him another son and hes gonna bone 2 more chicks before the shows end. It makes sense if the brothers were raised together in 2s.

I cant wait to see his eldest son get his hands bloody.

My wife says ST_U, Horik must die! :D:D I'm hoping Horik is filled with arrows like a pincushion non-fatally, then is tortured. He was such a fool leaving a smoldering Yarl Borg back home. Borg's men could have tipped the tide in every battle tremendously. And Ragnar is sure to be placing some of the blame for Borg taking his lands on Horik. I personally think Horik was a fool not to return with Ragnar -staying in a strange land with only half the men you showed up with.:confused: HE lives like a thug, he will die like a thug (hopefully).

I agree with your wife!! Although someone posted that historically Horik out lives Ragnar :( they have been sticking to history pretty closely so far from what I researched.

Which also means sadly we may not see Ragnar and Lagertha back together either. I have read in a few historical recounts that Ragnar goes on to have two more wives after the princess and neither of them are Lagertha which I don't understand because clearly they belong together if Ragnar could keep it in his pants!! I read something on a Norse Saga site about Ragnar and a snake pit which I do not want to consider :( then his sons take a load of revenge for their father. He is a great father Ragnar. Adores his children. I love that about him.

Oh...got it. Ok then I need to change my thinking about that. Because personally I think most things went way down hill with the dawning of the "age of christ". They were no less barbaric that is for sure, they only had a pious exterior, inside they are just as greedy, and aggressive. Still it is the same now. They pound their bibles while spreading hatred around the globe. (not all...but many)

Ragnar was nicknamed Snake Britches and from what I read, the snake pit that we saw a few episodes ago was built FOR ragnar to mock him during death. In the show they are showing the pit before ragnar developed the name.
