Surprised nobody mentioned Lagertha nut-cracking her new husband. Sure it made me queasy like any other guy but he is such a prick, And next thing we know she is there with a small army to help Ragnar.

I watch very little tv, many weeks none at all, probably 1-2 hrs. per week at the top end. But I run to the couch when my wife tells me Vikings is coming on.

From what I've read online, the actor who plays Rollo(Clive Stephen) didn't initially care for the actor who plays Ragnar since he wasn't a formally trained actor, really just a good looking dude who fell into modeling in his 20s. So some of the smoldering animosity was real. Director played that one well.:D

This season so far is great~~~ however I do not understand why Ragnar and Lagertha are so cool to each other. She saved his butt! Could he not show more love to her??? She leaves with hardly saying goodbye to him. I was hoping for something more between them :(

Aslaug blah....Ragnar and Lagertha are much better together.

I also thought Bjorn fought well, very well, and Ragnar gives him nothing, no praise nothing. He is also being a dik to his brother who has paid far enough for his crimes.

Come on Ragnar where is your heart???? I know its in there!!

Ragnar did ask Lagertha to stay, then she announced in front of everyone she was leaving. I figure he was slightly embarrassed so skipped the goodbye hug.

I'm surprised Jarl Borg ran off so easily and gave up Kattegat. That storyline is getting sticky, with Horik encouraging Ragnar to align with Borg next week to raid the west.

I think we have to remember how important it is to Ragnar to have many sons. Ragnar's other interests are taking precedence over any "love" he may feel for Lagertha. Ragnar said he wanted to have both Auslaug and Lagertha. Lagertha ain't havin' none of that.
As far as Ragnar's attitude toward Bjorn, Ragnar knows that it is a cruel and ruthless world and he must prepare Bjorn to be hard. That is illustrated in his behavior at the prisoner sacrifice.
Athelstan is one confused puppy. He's having a crisis of faith times two. He is being used by King Ecbert exactly as I suspected he would be; as a sort of intelligence liason in his court.
I am really enjoying the portrayal of Loki. That actor is really making the most of his role. Loki's mannerisms are particularly interesting and entertaining.

I think he was disappointed in his son for not seeing the flank coming in as well as not listening to him. I think he got emotional when he saw his son on the floor fixing to die so now hes trying to get him into a more manly mindset instead of a teenagers. He saw the size of his son and I think he thought he would be better in combat, so maybe hes a little embarrassed that his son is not up to his father's battle standards.

It's Floki, not Loki. Loki is the "Trickster" God in Norse mythology.:D

I'm sure that Floki's demeanor is meant to reflect on how the God Loki is thought to be.

I consider him a natural foods stoner of passed times. Comes off like if he were living today Hed be wearing knitted barrets, still have the eye shadow on, and doing drugs shirtless by a river. Im guessing He would live in Austin, TX :)

I thought about Siggy actually...how can she have lost so much and still be so reasonable. I think she is festering down deep inside, how can she not be?? How can she be so agreeable?? Nay I say, they are saving her for some treachery later on. She has gotten the crap end of the stick since the middle of season 1 and yet...she makes friends with Lagertha, plays the passive role of saying she wanted to "serve" her. She accepts Aslaug's offer of friendship, she puts up with Rollo's drunkenness and cheating, on and on and on she just sucks it up with hardly any emotion.

Then we see her actually offering very wise council to Aslaug as they are fleeing from Borg, that the experience will make her stronger, and it will make her sons stronger. We will get through this she says. It will make us strong. MMMM yes Siggy, strong for what? For f-ing someone over hard core if you get the chance?? She seems to undermine Ragnar when ever she gets the chance. She tried it with Rollo and she tried it by having sex with Horik. I don't trust her and I don't trust Horik.

But I like her, (Siggy) I just don't get her. How can she have lost her husband, her children, her throne, married a very messed up Rollo (although he is coming along nicely now) etc...she is like a coiled snake I predict she is gonna cause some trouble at some point

LOVE Floki!!!! He is about the only one I trust not to betray Ragnar. His character is just wonderful!!!! I didn't know what to think of him at first, but really, I just think he is wonderful.

So many varied stories about him. I read from this site that his name meant "hairy breeks" or britches which I had read else where as well. That some times they would tar their pants to make them stronger. Then things would get stuck in the tarred pants, hence "hairy breeks". Here is the link:

His name also has several spellings, Lodbrok, Lothbrok, loobrok. Given that it was a very long time ago and most people spoke a variation of Old English, Middle English, Norse, Latin etc..There was no universal language back then. Or as Tolkien called it "The Common Speech".

Over the years I am sure things got changed in translation, or mixed up, and embellished. Of course you know how us humans are, we like a good story so as time went by, these hero stories get wilder by the second as they were passed down from one generation to the next.
