the beginning to the grudge freaked me out like nothing else..
the first saw
the first friday the 13th
shawn of the dead actually had some pretty messed up parts in it..
ghost ship was cool too..

i'm not a big horror fan but i like vampire movies alot..

and jason x and freddy vs jason

and the halloween movies were pretty good

loved loved loved cloverfield..

i seperate horror movies into 2 categories scary and gory.. i hate movies that think gore means scare.... that is the problem with modern horror movies in my opinion..

I picked up "Anaconda" the other day, and it has an outstanding cast (Jen Lopez, John Voight, Ice Cube, Danny Trejo, Owen Wilson, and the foxy Kari Wuhrer) - except for the stupid CGI snake! With this cast - it could have been good movie, but not this time. I had fun laughing though.

There's been no mention of Wolfen in any of these threads, does that mean you connoisseurs don't rate it? I haven't seen it, but I'm kind of interested, since it's Mike Wadleigh's only film other than the Woodstock documentary.

Saw Calvaire last night. Weird movie. It seemed to be more about insanity as the movie went on than about any particular characters.

Wolfen gets a big "meh" from me. There was a couple scary moments, and the heat vision-type camera stuff was cool, but it wasn't impressive in any particular areas.

It's on Netflix Instant if you have it. That's been a great deal for me so far- $9 a month for unlimited instant viewing on my PC or Xbox (smaller selection though) plus one movie out at a time, so I usually get 8 or 9 rentals in the mail a month.

Casting is now 100% official. Back in February the boys over at Latino Review had broke the news first that Jackie Earle Haley was in fact locked down as your new Freddy Krueger. While at the time they were wrong in the fact that it was a done deal, this afternoon Bloody-Disgusting learned exclusively that Haley is now locked and loaded to pull over that grimy red and green sweater, strap on the infamous razor glove and tip his fedora as the brand-spanking-new Freddy Krueger! Expect an official announcement as early as next week. Shooting begins under the watch of Samuel Bayer at the end of the month in Chicago on A Nightmare on Elm Street, New Line Cinema's reboot of the infamous franchise created by Wes Craven that followed Krueger, a serial child killer murdered by angry parents, who returns with a burnt face and a razor glove to terrorize teens in their dreams. Don't fall asleep on April 16, 2010.

Thoughts? Opinions? While I'm gonna miss Robert Englund, this casting choice makes me interested in this.......I hate to say the word.......remake.
