This is very odd for a metalhead like myself, but I don't watch horror movies. They creep me out way too much. Last one I saw (Event Horizon) had me looking over my shoulder for a week.

I actually liked Death Proof more. It was funny.
I can only watch horror movies if they're so cheesy that they're funny. Both movies qualified.
I'm glad they didn't. As it is, it was not fun being unable to get those images out of my mind (I'm particularly susceptible to 'eye horror'). This becomes a problem when I'm going to sleep and those are the thoughts that I can't get out of my head.
Should never have watched it in the first place. Too serious a horror movie for me. Silly ones are more my thing.

I wish I could be scared by horror movies still. They used to scare the crap out of me when I was little- just hearing parts of Nightmare on Elm Street 2 while lying in bed as my parents watched it or seeing the first few minutes of Madman scared the crap out of my thoughts for weeks. I got over that pretty quick by watching more and more of them. Seeing the original Black Christmas a couple years ago made me feel a bit creeped out and tense, but that's the closest I've gotten to being scared since I was 13 or so (I don't count things jumping out at you as true scares). They definitely could have used more of the hell universe in Event Horizon....Sam Neil on his own isn't a very scary bad guy.

It actually came in the mail from Netflix today for me- if I don't fall asleep early, I'll see it tonight.
I dunno, the scariest parts, I thought, were Dr. Weir's visions of his eyeless dead wife, and also when they de-fuzzed the video recording of the original crew. That was what I couldn't get out of my mind for a week.
Me too, and I loved it. I remember when I was really little (2 or 3 years old) my dad and I would stay up late on Saturday nights watching Creature Feature, which was a program that showcased horror films every week. I had this little slat backed rocking chair that I used to set in front of the couch where he was sitting and I would sit there nervously rocking back and forth until something scared the **** out of me. Then I'd jump up and run around behind the rocking chair (between it and my dad's legs) and try not to peek at the TV between the slats but I never could. I just HAD to see the monster.
No, he's not. It really would have made it so much better if they had.
My favorite one is Slither. Not because it's particularly scary, but because it's hilarious.
I don't watch many horror movies, but other notables are 28 Days Later (and the sequel, loved them both), The Silence of the Lambs, and Audition.

Me too. I bet half of us watch them so much because we secretly hope to get just as scared as we were when we first saw them 
The one scary movie I remember from my childhood was that old Vincent Price movie "The Tingler". I never forgot that and when it came out on DVD I had to watch it. It wasn't as scary as I remembered but it's still pretty creepy.
The junk Rob Zombie be thinking up is definitely out there.....waaaayyyyy out there.
Scares the crap out of me everytime I watch "House of 1000 Corpses", but that one chick is really hot so I can't not watch it. I know I'm going to be freaked out for a few days each time after I watch it.

Back to my days watching Creature Feature on my little rocking chair....
One movie that has stuck in my head all these years had (I think) alien critters in the form of brains with caterpillar/wormlike bodies on them. I don't know why that one in particular has stuck with me all this time, but if I can ever figure out what it is and can find it on DVD, it's mine. I just got done watching "Mirrors" with Kiefer Sutherland, and Amy Smart. It had a uniquely fresh story I thought was not great, but pretty good anyway.
I kind of had a hard time with Kiefer's character being I saw "Jack Bauer" emerge a few times, and Amy had a real jaw-dropping experience!

I also picked up "Funny Games" at the library. This story is about two seriously messed-up very polite guys in preppy sportswear terrorising a family at their lakeside vacation home. Disturbing movie.
I have no intention of doing so. The reason I liked the first Saw was because of the mystery element. The not knowing who was orchestrating it all was cool. Then you find out at the very end.
Any of the sequels I'd just think were stupid because they'd lack the thing I most liked about the original.
