I was just reading reviews on "Laid to Rest". Some good - some not so good - have any of you guys seen it?



I can forgive a not-so-great script/story as long as the special effects/gore, and film work is good like "The Ruins", but not to the point of movies like "Penny Dreadful" ... that movie was so stupid I laughed all the way through it. I think they got the scene with the "pencil in the eye" from Beavis & Butthead :D

I don't think she was lying- at that point I doubt she would even have had the frame of mind to do so. In addition to that, after the old woman kills herself, it shows Anna still looking up as if she is witnessing something, and it shows the old definition of martyr as a "witness." I think she saw something incomprehensibly beautiful or saw something that the woman would never achieve because of what she and the others put the girls though.


Either way, I hate open endings with movies. I love interpreting what I want in art and music, but I definitely prefer a solid ending for films.

Creepshow is one of my all time favorites though I can't exactly say why. :D I heard there was a remake in the works.

Not really a big horror movie fan, but I've been watching a few Vampire movies lately.

30 Days of Night. (re-rented)
Last night was, Let the Right One In. A very different take on the Vampire genre. Thoroughly enjoyed that one.

This prompted me to get the original version of Nosferatu.
Shadow of the Vampire I think will be next. Any other recommendations? I have Bram Stoker's Dracula, and Interview with a Vampire. What else? Large genre, I know. Not really looking for gory B-flicks, or Sci-fi-Vampires :)

I actually didn't like Shadow of the Vampire. It's been almost a decade since I watched it though, so I don't remember why. The original Lost Boys is a really fun vampire movie, and some of the old Hammer vampire flicks were great.

I've seen bits and pieces of Shadow of a Vampire. It seemed really dark, but don't remember a lot about it either. Looking through Netflix, there seems to be a few classic Dracula movies. Can't remember if I've ever seen the original Dracula (1958). Good place to start, I guess. :) Thanks!

Lost Boys, I've seen. Actually, looking through Netflix I've seen some of the more popular stuff. Vampires with James Wood. From Dusk till Dawn. Ones like Van Helsing, Underworld (Kate Beckinsale Link Removed), and Blade have been on cable a lot.

Just heard back from the eBay seller of the Funny Games DVD. Looks like they're going to be sending another one and it doesn't sound like they want this copy back. It plays up until 1:35 and then again after 9:33 (about halfway through chapter 2) and it doesn't seem to have missed a whole lot of the story. I watched about a half hour more and then decided I wanted to wait to see the whole thing.

Anyway, if they don't want this one returned, does anyone want this copy? You'll have to start it on chapter three, but that looks like the point where the story starts coming together anyway.

If anyone does, let me know and I'll send it to you. Just need an address and as soon as the seller confirms they don't want it back it'll be on the way.
