Horror movies

Absolutely. Some of the first I saw were The Exorcist, Poltergeist, Friday the 13th Part III, The Car, Jaws, Psycho......There's so many I saw as a kid. There is no doubt in my mind that those movies are the reason why I still love horror today.

Some of the cinematography in this film is brilliant, such as the whole "egg" scene near the beginning, almost one long take. It's such a "simple" scene to film yet the tension just keeps growing.

I'm waiting patiently for this one to arrive. Bought it from an eBay seller over the weekend so I'm glad to see it getting some good comments here.

I think I saw half of those movies by the time I was like 5 or 6. :rollno: The Exorcist definitely damaged my mental stability at the time. :D I loved being scared when I was young. I even have recollections of a few non-horror tv shows from the early 80s when I was really young that were "horror" to me. For example BBCs Children of the Stones and anything by Sid and Marty Krofft. They scared me but I watched them anyway. :hiding:

Anyway I need to get into some new flicks. There are a ton you guys have mentioned that I want to see.

I know I was about 7 when I saw The Exorcist. Growing up in a fairly religious family definitely made that movie have a large impact on me. The Exorcist still rests comfortable in my top 10 favorite horror films. I don't think I'll ever get sick of watching it.

I agree. I like the new version with the added stuff even more. Well except for possibly the spider steps scene.

Watched it today. It was all right, a bit over the top though, especially with the exploding blood packs. I kept thinking that Rodriguez had spent too much time playing video games before making the movie.

Death Proof is on tap for tonight.

Amen to the wildly over-rated, mind-numbing dialogue. The movie could have been ten minutes long if not for that. Three scenes. BOOM! Done.





Edit: And what the heck is up with them trying to pass California off for Tennessee? I guess Tarantino has never been to TN because it sure as heck doesn't look ANYTHING like he portrayed it. Maybe I'm being picky, but he could just as easily have scripted it to take place in Podunk Junction, CA. At least the landscape would have looked right.

His efforts to take quotes from earlier movies and put them to use in this one seemed forced and contrived. Tasty beverage, tasty beverage.

Ah, well. I'm STILL waiting for Funny Games to get here. I think the seller must have literally sent it "Snail Mail" but at least Prophecy II showed up today. I liked Prophecy (the one with Christopher Walken) a lot so hopefully the sequel comes at least somewhat close. True, it's not a horror flick, ut then again, neither is Death Proof.

Prophecy II (and III) are nowhere near as good as the first one. They're still a little entertaining though. I love the first one.

Do you buy all your movies before watching them? I could never do that- I refuse to buy any movie unless I know it's something I'm going to want to watch at least a dozen more times :D

I do buy them before watching them. I guess I have around 1200 DVDs, maybe a couple hundred more but no less. I keep trying to list them all but I can't keep track. I've been lucky so far in that I've only bought duplicates twice.

I don't watch TV at all but constantly have a movie in if for nothing other than background noise. Right now Death Proof is still playing in the other room. There are quite a few that I know I'm never going to watch again but I have people over quite often and frequent visitors from out of town so I'm always hearing, "Oh my god! You have [fill in the blank]! We have to watch this!"

And of course it's something I'd never watch again on my own.
