My Bloody Valentine was equally good. I watched the 2D version - those glasses hurt my eyes/brain. Anyway it was more of a murder mystery horror movie. I liked the twists and how they make you think one way or another about who is doing the killing. Some of the gore and killing scenes were over the top excessive. It's definitely a gore fest at times. I really liked the miner mask and outfit for the killer. However I couldn't help but think it has to be hard to see out of those goggles. How come he never seems to have any trouble finding/catching his victims. :eyebrow::D

I hope it's better than the original - I haven't seen it yet for that reason :eyebrow:

I think it's worth checking out. Never saw the original.

Picked up the Blue Underground release of Dario Argento's Deep Red yesterday. One of my favorites by him. It was restored to the original version he intended it to be. Good news is that there is a ton of stuff I have never seen including quality killing scenes. Visually it's great.

Bad news is that many parts either never had the English voice over done due to editing or the original sound was lost. So the movie jumps around a lot from English to Italian with subs. Overall not so good. They didn't include the original edited release either. I still love the movie but I'll keep my original crappy copy too.

I think the music for Halloween and possibly Phantasm was inspired by part of Goblin's score for Deep Red.

Who has seen 30 Days of Night? I watched it last night and admittedly I was very, very tired when I did but it just didn't seem too special. Interesting setting, but the execution of the film left a lot of holes.

Is it worth re-watching today now that I've had a little sleep or should I not bother?

I liked it quite a bit- it wasn't as realistic/as good a film as Let The Right One In, but I thought it had a great atmosphere and was a better depiction of vampires than most of the vampire flicks out there.

It'll be hard to beat Let the Right One In, but that one is sort of in a class by itself.

I might be hard to please, but I like a film that flows so well that you can overlook minor flaws and discrepancies. I'd rather enjoy watching the movie than sit there and pick it apart, y'know what I mean?

I did like 30 Days' take on the vampires and I thought setting it in Barrow was a stroke of genius, but then some parts felt contrived and many of the actions of the characters were like, "Now why in the **** would ANYONE do that?" Especially the end sequence when the sun came up 20 minutes after he made the ultimate sacrifice. Stupid. And with no idea what would happen to him when he did it? Stupid.

One thing, though, I wish I had an attic that had little peep holes that light couldn't escape from so I could hide from the vampires. My next house will have those!

Yeah, that was clear, but what got me was the sun came up 20 minutes after he "saved the day". Why not just wait a half hour and then she can walk out from under the Blazer on her own?

I know in the lead up to his doing so they were saying the sun would rise "tomorrow", but then it started coming up immediately thereafter. That's the part that I found dumb.

Or did I catch a cat nap in there somewhere? Could well be!

They don't actually say how long it is before the sun comes up- it could have been hours. It's shown shortly after, but it was a cut, so some time could have gone by. And it's been a while since I saw it, but I thought there was some pressing need to save her quick- like the fire was going to get to her or something.

Watched 30 Days again and the sun did rise just as the fight scene ended. As the vampires were running off he looked up to an early morning dawn sky.

The last three days of the flick were a blur, and what was supposed to be 72 hours seemed like about twenty minutes the way it was edited/written. All in all not a bad flick, I did enjoy watching it, there were just a few inconsistent elements that bugged my tired little brain.
