What a weird movie. Not even remotely a "horror" movie in the traditional sense, except for the last scene, which doesn't fit in.

Just saw Wolf Creek last night (finally). It was actually very enjoyable- you don't get the chance to like the characters/victims in most horror flicks these days.

I think generally foreign horror is pretty messed up in a good way. Why can't American movie makers do decent horror these days? Without relying on an old story for a remake. The new Friday the 13th was definitely good but still just a remake filled with cliche slasher movie scenes.

your right a lot of american horror is too sanitised. Those teen slashers that came out through the 90s were kinda like the Nu-metal of horror movies.(S**t but popular) They did a lot of damage.
The big problem today is that a lot of Big studio films are overy concerned with doing the most disgusting thing possoible to the human body that they can get away with, because thats what sells.
It started i think with Saw(correct me if im wrong) The first saw,i thought, was a very good horror film. But all everyone talked about after seeing it was the gore factor, even though the first saw wasnt very gory at all.The reasin the first one worked was because of the character development and the story arc whick kept you interested. Unfortunatly because the films "buzz" was generated by the gore thats all people concintrated on when making the sequiels. Same goes for hostel,The hills have eyes etc. No one seems to want to bother developing characters anymore.

That said not all american horror is bad. I loved Diary of the Dead(Not really a big surprise it is a romero film) and some of the films on Fox Searchlight/Atomic or other indie studios can be good you just have to do a lot of digging

Just watched audition. It was definately different. I can see where the grudge and the ring and some of those other silly movies get their spook factor from. Except the japanese seem to do it right. First cars, then horror movies. What next? Guitars?

That's just my personal point of view since I find 'dubs to be more distracting than subtitles. The voice inflections are usually wrong, and I can't stand to watch lips flapping out of sync with the words.

I found it at my local blockbuster. I'm prolly gonna watch it tomorrow afternoon (first day of holidays!!), cuz I'm too much of a chicken to watch it tonight..

I thought "Wolf Creek" was pretty good too, and the landscapes in Australia are just awesome.

John Jarratt is also in another Australian horror movie called "Rogue" that's pretty good for an oversized crocodile movie.

I don't know about you folks, but 28 days later reminds me an awful lot of the left for dead series(games). anyone else feel that way?
