Man how I have missed this thread....

I am a HUGE horror flick fan. Everything from the old school black and white stuff to some of the modern Japanese films. Big favs of mine are Halloween, Hellraiser, 28 Days movies, The Ring, The Mummy, The Thing, Alien, and a lot of Romero's stuff. I also like a lot of Dark Moon films ie Puppet Master series. Not sure if anyone remembers those movies lol

Ghoulies and House were also regular plays on the Saturday horror block.

I always liked "Blade." A skeleton puppet with knives as hands....broootlz

You like Land of the Dead and Diary of the Dead over Day of the Dead? Interesting.

Haven't seen Diary of the Dead. Day of the Dead is too slow and boring for me.

the original Scream and the first Saw movie.

Man, the first Scream movie. That movie was the first horror movie in years that actually had me on the edge of my seat, and surprised me several times, heart in my throat, etc. Too bad none of the sequels do it justice.

Saw II is my favorite of those, probably because it is the first one I saw. I had no idea how disturbing it was. Went to see a movie with my wife, the movie we wanted to see didn't allow passes, so it was between Doom, Saw 2, and a couple of chick flicks. She wanted to see Doom, but I didn't so we picked Saw 2, not having a clue. It opens with that dude having to decide whether to die or cut out his own eye. Most disturbing thing I think I had ever seen in a movie to that point.

I think Saw I and III are the best. Check out the third, it's got some kick ass parts for sure.

Oh, I watch them all. Even the ones that suck. That includes really bad Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street sequels.

Two that I have never been able to get into are the Child's Play and Hellraiser movies. Totally useless and stupid IMO.

I recently saw "The Cube" it was actually pretty cool. It was the one with the white modern cube.

i liked cube zero much more, you see the behind the scenes look at how the cube operates. other than that its pretty much the same.

You want some messed-up French movies? Try "Man Bites Dog" and "Irreversible". Neither are strictly horror, but both are seriously disturbing. Man Bites Dog particularly... about documentary film-makers who are making a documentary on a serial killer, and end up getting involved in his murders. Check them out if you can.

I like the idea of horror movies, but I've honestly never found one that nails the exact amount of disturbosity that falls between just a kind of apathetic detachment that leaves me thinking "wow, who cares" and pushing it too far to the point where it's just completely ****ed up.

Have Diary of the Dead on my ipod, just haven't watched it yet. From what I hear, I'll most likely be less than thrilled

I remember watching that a long time ago. It was a decent enough rental movie.

The Tenant is pretty cool, but he will never top Rosemary's Baby.

I thought The Tenant was better, but that might just be because its held up a lot better. Rosemary's baby is a lot more of a comedy than a horror now.

The Wickerman, the original, not the one with Cage... the ultimate, and quoted as "the favourite movie" by Squarepusher.

The Cage version, put simply, sucked. Total waste of time watching that one. What the **** were they thinking?

The Mist - horror was in the store!

Loved the movie, hated the end. I get that from a lot of the later Stephen King stuff though (even though the movie strayed a bit from the original story at the end). It's like he has these great ideas but never seems to know how to wind things up.

Funny how a lot of Horror flicks don't hold up well due to the dated effects. I saw the re-release of Aliens and it was almost comical how bad the effects were.

Like the repositioning of Ash's severed head? I can't even watch that part any more, it looks so ludicrous.

Stephen Kings "It" was amazing till the ending, as with many of his movies. Misery was excellent as well.

I see I'm not the only one who thinks this. That ending truly did suck though.

Great topic. I've got about 1800 DVDs, about a quarter of them horror flicks. Everything from the old B&W B movies (The Giant Gila Monster, The Killer Shrews) and the kitchy '70s nature horror (Frogs with David Soul, Ants, Tarantulas, things like that) to some recent ones I've watched like 1408. Not bad for a Stephen King based movie, especially considering it stars John Cusack.

Now I think I'll go drag out Carnival of Souls and get some sleep. Just got home from work not too long ago....
