Ok, wow Jesse!! The stick can also receive midi messages so you can turn the 10 modules on and off or all of them on/off at once. This was the part I was trying to figure out in Midi Designer, now I don't have to.
Very rarely do products come out that don't fall sort of my needs or expectations, but the SA stuff is always one step ahead of me, like holding doors open for me to go thru and explore amazing new worlds. No exaggeration!!

You should. You need a midi GUI like midi designer. I'm sure there are plenty of these online. You will also need a USB-Midi interface and if your midi pedals only have a midi In and not a Thru, you will need one of these to send midi to multiple pedals.
So the trick to this is the CC sent the the stick to make it function like an expressionator. That way you can assign the HH to a control(s) and it will only change them when you activate that midi module on the stick, and you can have 10 different ones on/off in different combinations.

was just using a momentary switch to control the record function of the Looper effect in ableton. the game plan is to get an iRig blueboard (button bluetooth foot controller) to link to my macbook, along with my iphone(probably going to upgrade to ipad and mount it from mic stand, having issues with small control surface on the phone) running midi designer/lemur. I have a pedalboard that i use for my effects currently, but i'm experiementing with mixing in some things from ableton such as ping pong delays, vocoder effects, and audio to midi. I do the sound engineering for our band, so might eventually run EVERYTHING through my macbook before sending the signal out and using the ipad as a cross-function mixer controller as well. so much to do so little time -_- but I just got my USB HH in the mail yesterday so cant wait to play with it after work today :-D

Alright so I received my HH USB yesterday and it works perfectly with my computer. I was going to test it with my iPad today... but the ring froze when I tested it with my computer again. Blue light is on (not flashing), but axis changes are not recognized by the software editor. Plugging it in to AC adaptor does not do anything either.

Do you have another HH like a HH3 receiver on in that same area? Could it me connecting to that?
I have multiple HH's and I've found there is a sequence the like to "join". HH3 first, then the HH2. I have to leave the HH2 unplugged or it will try and join with that first. All rings work with all receivers from what I can tell so far.
Next thing, do you have "Monitor" from the menus "ON". Try "ALL ON"
Next look at the little green/grey circles on each Process and Midi windows. Green is active.
Now for the ipad, I don't now for sure, but I think you have to have your midi program open, then plug in the HH-USB, then connect your ring to it. And if you lose power to the USB stick, you have to turn your ring off and on again to make a new connection.
Nevermind, I emailed SA and they replied (very quickly), saying that it is a known issue that occurs when the ring goes out of range during initial connection. Unplugging the battery or waiting for it to die does solve this problem. Thanks for the tips! (I wish I had other HHs...)
What other apps work with the HH USB? I want to know for sure if I should spend 18$ on MIDI designer haha.
Also, is there a way to trigger on/off on the ring, other than the onboard power button? I would like to be able to switch it on and off quickly in live situations.. I wonder if connecting a MIDI controller pedal of some sort would be possible.

The 8 midi modules are on/off controllable by sending midi CC's to the stick. You don't need to physically turn off the ring. This is essential so it's not always changing parameters.
I was just wondering what else it can control and I suppose any app. I don't know if other apps 'learn' CC's like midi designer but if they don't you just program the stick to the CC's you want. But will other programs 'send' CC's back to the stick to turn modules on/off?? I dunno

Ooh, do you think you could elaborate? I bought midi designer but I have no idea where to begin (connecting HH, mapping to a synth).. do you think you could help me get started?

Now to make presets or controls that do more then one thing, use 'supercontrols'. The will be a button or slider the you can drag to any other control to make a group of thing happen with 1 control.

With the red receive light flashing and the learn shaking, it should be working. hmmm. 1-9 is default Y axis address.

Hope it's okay to revive a thread here! I'm pretty new to all this iPad effects and stuff, but recently I tried out JamUp and it pretty much blew me away. So I thought it'd be nice to try controlling my wah and pitchshifter by HH, and after a lot of research I decided this would be the best way to try it since I'm using an Alesis IO Dock anyway.
I figured it'd be easy since the JamUp is designed to take midi input, and the IO Dock has a jack specially for midi controllers. And supposedly it's equivalent to plugging in the camera connection kit. So I tried plugging the HH USB directly into the midi controller USB jack- no luck. The light on the USB dongle thing didn't even turn on. Tried plugging it via the iPad cable- no luck either.
Then I thought it might be a power problem since I've seen complaints on some threads about how the new iOS cut the USB power output of the iPad. So I went to get a powered USB Hub. Now the light turns on, but I can't link the ring to the dongle. It seems to link fine on a computer (granted, I didn't go to the software and set it up and stuff, I just plugged it in, let it install drivers and link the ring to the dongle), and if I leave the ring on while unplugging the dongle and reconnecting it to the iPad the light on the ring stays solid blue, but if I turn it off and turn it on again (while the dongle is connected to my iPad), it doesn't connect- the ring keeps flashing.
Tried downloading the free versions of Midi Designer (lite and 12), but that didn't help either. Do I have to get the paid version of Midi Designer to get this to work? Or is there something else that I am doing very wrong? I thought that I would be able to just send it direct into JamUp, didn't expect all these problems to surface.
One other question- have any of you tried plugging the HH USB directly into a USB-midi conversion cable? If I can't get this to work at all, I might want to try that instead since it should be sending out pure midi output (at least that's the impression I get from reading)

Found a query about the alesis io dock with midi designer, and how it can't use sysex. Could I clarify, the hh usb doesn't use sysex right? It sends CC output to whatever it's connected to?

=/ that's a little bit of a bummer. I wonder if there's any way to get the HH USB to just simply send out MIDI CC...
I think tomorrow I'm going to try running it through my laptop and sending out midi by USB into my iPad interface (since I want to use my iPad for effects and control it using a hothand)
Also, would this help? [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] I'm thinking USB into this, and midi out to my iPad.
