Double Bass How about a list of EUB's?

You missed out the fantastic British EUB by Clifton :hyper: (in London) as well as the playable but plasticcy Yamaha.

I play a Clifton - integrally fitted with a Realist pickup - with Roberto Pla's band & with Robin Jone's King Salsa & everyone in the band loves the look & the sound of the instrument(especially admired by the superb Cuban bass guitarist Elpidio Caicedo)

Sorry I don't have time to get links at the moment. But i can later.

I thought I would add the Da Gamba to the list.
It is made in Poland by Krzysztof Kania.
It's a beautifully made instrument which has enough acoustic volume to practice with and the electric tone is very close to a full size double bass.

I have a slightly older model thatn the one pictured in the link so I don't have the shadow pickup. I use a revolution solo.
The combination of the instrument with this pickup has a very natural tone, I can't recommend it highly enough.

Here's another Australian made EUB. Sounds great, looks great.

There is a great company out of Paducah, KY called Rob Wave Guitars. They Built this upright for me. It has a b-band under the bridge and they also added a magnetic pickup. I love this instrument. Here is a picture of the bass and a picture of Brian Ritchie of the Violent Femmes playing my Rob Wave bass

I just ordered a 5 string from Rob Wave, how do you like yours?
Can you comment on the fingerboard, I also got a Purpleheart fingerboard
and was wondering how it felt and sounded.
What kind of magnetic pickup did you have them put on it?

thanks,
-vince

I recently purchased my first CCI bass and have been playing it for a few weeks now. I've been playing upright for a long time, and find this one to be more powerful and even easier to play. The sound is AMAZING and the instrument has class- the design makes all other UEBs look like caveman construction. CCI Mediums is the company to watch.
