How Anal are you with your rig?

Not in the slightest. I actually have some sort of fetish for gear that is absolutely beat to hell. One day, when I can afford a 4001/4003, I'm going to find the oldest, most abused one I can, and enjoy not worrying about it until it quits working.

The rest of my gear is pretty much the same way, still works, but all of it has been taken apart, modified, and looks terrible.

My SVT was my baby, leather covers both head and cabs till I started gigging full time then roadies took it where it need to get to and it got pretty roughed up to say the least. So in the beginning yes but later I had no control over it. still sounds great though I do not gig with it anymore.
all of my gigging basses however are wiped down and polished after a show and in case till the next one. I of course have a beater so to speak that is on a stand 24-7 at my beck and call that has only seen a handful of gigs since it is a acoustic/electric.

Not at all. I don't intentionally bang it around, but I don't baby my gear either. I have (at least I think) some really nice gear. And it shows some wear. I don't hover over my stuff during breaks or anything either.

Probably the thing I baby the most is my Magnavox era V4 (which is ironic being that it is built like a tank). The thing is, it has the ORIGINAL Magnavox tubes in it. I would be really pissed if I dropped or banged it and broke a tube.

When I bought my first bass, I put a ding in it when I was loading it into the car (this was before my first case) Didn't even bring it home yet and it was scratched. I tried being careful with it but that just led to more dings and dents.

A few basses later, I decided to stop worrying about it so much and now my basses are pristine. Not a scratch. It's not like I'm careless, but I try not to worry so much and everything is fine. I guess my nervousness was the cause of the damage.

As for my amps, I never really cared. They are big, and they have to be moved through tight spaces often, which is a recipe for wear and tear. Even if I was anal about my amps, it wouldn't do me much good.

My brand new last year EAW PA, my 4 x 10" cab and amp and other nice bits and pieces now spend their time in the van, and all have dings, scrapes and rips. The loudspeakers have a really tough finish, but it's got holes where it's been chunked. The amp has a knob missing, and the 4 x 10" has a dented grill. I've never cleaned my guitar since I've had it, and apart from removing any obvious dust where it shows in the lights, it just gets put back in the case between gigs. They're tools, and although never deliberately abused, they see life and live a bit! I do like flight cases, but the pack is very tight and the cab, in the flightcase is just too big. Just how it goes for me!

A little anal. But it's a lot better than the opposite extreme... :hmm:

I always keep a pump bottle of Gibson's Guitar Polish - and I actually use it from time to time. For some reason, it doesn't seem to occur to many players that they can actually keep their finished instruments looking sharp all the time - with just a bit of care & attention.

I used to be fairly protective, and I still care about my stuff, but stuff happens and that's fine. I just don't try to let stuff happen. I actually haven't kept a bass long enough for much to happen. Maybe this one.

Me, not at all. I am the guy kicking the **** out of the cab or amp if it does not sound right. It does not help the sound but makes the guy making the bad sounds feel better. I will dust off the rig and guitars when I am dusting everything else in my house. So I am the lazy ass person, if that is an option in the pole. Some of my guitars still have beer on them from 13 years ago. The swiffer duster will not get that off, for some reason :(

Covers off to play, covers on when finished. Bass gets a quick wipe down with a micro fiber cloth. Strings get a heavy wipe down, only because I'm cheap and TI flats are too expensive to change them often. Cable gets rolled up and Velcro tie attached. Strap gets neatly folded and placed in the case. Is that anal? Naw, just common sense.
