How attached are you to your amp?

I really like my GK combo. It's plenty loud and if I needed more juice, I'd go FOH anyway so it's not like I would need anything more powerful. With that said, I still miss my Subway setup from a few years ago. It has more features that I like and the aesthetic was really cool. I often wrestle with myself thinking I should try to get my old rig back, but with how expensive everything is these days and the fact I'm probably at least a few years away from gigging regularly again, it seems like a frivolous endeavor. Whenever I've ran direct, I've never thought to myself, "gee I wish I had my amp right now."

How attached are you to your amp? How integral is it to your overall desire to play?
Honest question here: If you liked your old rig, why did you get rid of it? Was it a perceived upgrade, or to replace your damaged Subway? Just curious.

Hmm...................................

I like my amps. I wouldn't have bought them if I didn't like them. But I am sort of fickle and will sell something I like to buy a new shiny thing that I think I'll like more. I've done it over and over, sold 10 amps and 5 cabinets... I guess what I like and what is available both change over time.

The most consistent thing for me has been Ampeg stuff. Other things catch my eye, and I play around with it, but eventually I always get back to Ampeg, which sounds the most like what I want to hear with the least effort.

I don't think the amp really has much to do with me wanting to play. If I have a so so amp, that works and some good musicians to play with, and it's fun... I can deal with the amp. But if I have a great amp and no one to play with, or the people I'm playing with make it work and not fun, then the awesome amp can't save that situation.

Much of the time now I just use whatever amp is around. Bypass the eq, and use a Nordstrand Starlifter into the effects in on the amp going straight to the power section. Kind of a "Swiss Army knife" preamp, Eq, DI. Works well with my upright or electric basses.

Very attached.
So easy to dial in what I want.
Not ridiculously heavy or light.
Well built and reliable..
Locally made (well that's if you count the other side of Australia as local)... It's just up the road, mate!
I've contemplated "upgrading" numerous times but can never bring myself to do so.....because the work for me.
If I want a slightly different sound, I'll use a different bass

I am utterly "attached" to my Ceriatone Aunt Peg (clone of one channel of an Ampeg B-15). To my ears the circuit that Jess Oliver designed draws the very best out of 6L6GC output tubes. I will not part with it for any reason.

Otherwise, I have always regarded amps as tools that came and went as the music, situation and funds dictated.

If I were a youngster starting afresh in today's tech environment, I would forget about amps and focus instead on preamps (pedals), DI's, IE devices and finding a gifted soundman/mixer to become a full-fledged, integral band member.

Considering that I am in 2 permanent bands now and that I left an amp and a cab at each place and others are using them, I would say I am not attached. I am glad they are being used and I am not just hoarding them. Both places did not like the Mesa 400 with the 210 + 115 diesel cabs though. I bring it sometimes but they are not welcomed to stay.

I do have an AI head and combo + EA cabs and a AI cabs for everything else.

Way more attached than I want to be. But to my mind wireless systems still ain't where they need to be yet.
Oh, wait ...
Haven't gigged since IEMs've been a thing. But as long as it can do a clean sound loud enough to be heard by everyone who needs to hear it I don't care what I play through
