How do I clean sick from my Shergold?

No one has asked the important investigative questions: :)

After you puked on your instrument, what happened next?

Did the pukeage dry?

If so, why? Did you not notice at first the vomitus emitting from your mouth? Or maybe you didn't see it on the bass?

Or did you immediately run to your computer to ask for advice here, allowing the substance to age?

Neither of these scenarios make sense.

Please enlighten us. :)

Wow. I hope during your cleanup you used something that would have neutralized the acid (like abit of ivory liquid, diluted and applied / removed with a rag and dry towel), or you will end up with areas that look dull under certain lights. Which mean you will have to polish the whole thing and try to minimize that effect. Do you know what type of finish is on it?

Oh, and puke OUT next time...carpet be damned.

And yes, make sure the electronigs are dry, clean and in good order after all this.

Did you get it into the pickup cavities? Getting it onto the finish is bad enough but if it infiltrated any bare wood...beware. :D
The smell might linger. :ninja:

I remember reading a hilarious thread on an acoustic guitar forum started by a friend of an unlucky owner of a Breedlove acoustic. He left it on stage during a set break and a really wasted audience member who was making his way to the bathrooms didn't quite make it in time and managed to get some in the soundhole! What are the odds?

The really amusing part though was the follow-ups describing all the different things he tried to get the smell out of it with (like crushed Hawaiian lava stones) and the guy's attempts at selling and trading it. Consider yourself lucky. :D

The thread can be viewed here:

I'm shocked no one asked this yet: exactly what did you have for lunch that was so vomit-inducing?

I bet it was the English version of Indian food, I had that one time and it was pretty nasty.

in england, thats just called indian food, we have no idea what real indian food tastes like. but i quite indian, curry nights are always a laugh, till the next morning anyway.

How ignorant can you be? Have you missed the sizeable Indian population in England? Who most certainly know what "Indian" food tastes like?

If you are ignorant to the taste of true Indian food, then so be it, but don't tar all of England with the same brush. Certainly, one can find Indian restaurants dedicated to serving authentic indian food. I often deal with Indian weddings, where authentic indian food is cooked en mass for up to 600 guests at a time.

If you want to avoid the vague approximation of Indian food that is English curry, avoiding any restaurant that serves a Balti might be a good idea.

Could have been worse. Imagine he'd been Canadian. Due to the official Multiculturalism policy we've had since 1971, this thread *could* have started with 'How's it goin' eh? Okay, so uh... Gord, Wayne and I were down at O'Hurleys scarfing down spare ribs, bean-jam chappatis and Saké...'
