If you ever think of envying Victor in any way, shape or form, remember that he used to endorse friggin' power cables, saying they gave new depth to his tone or some stupid s**t like that. Instant loss of respect.

Sorry to say it but...do you really know what you'd do if a product manufacturer came to you and said "We'd like to pay you to endorse our product' and you thought the marketing was over the top but the product itself was solid? Imagine you're trying to pay the bills and put food in your kids' mouths by playing bass.

I respect Victor Wooten because he has a rep for being an approachable, nice guy.

I am fortunate enough to know Victor Wooten and I've been to his house and studio. First and foremost - Victor is a first-class guy and I can't imagine anyone not being happy to have him as a friend. He's also a dedicated family guy, so you're not going to see him in tabloid pages in any kind of scandal. Every year, he hosts a lot of kids in music camps to do nothing except share the joy of playing .

Let's face it - Victor is a helluva musician. He got his chops by working hard honing his craft and by playing with a very wide variety of bands and musicians. He spent a lot of his formative years on the road playing with his talented brothers

Although he's well-known, I don't think that he's wealthy beyond the dreams of avarice. He lives in a house in the woods that's secluded with a nice studio on his ground floor. But - his normal-sized house isn't in an opulent neighborhood, he doesn't drive a 6-figure German car and he doesn't dress like he's got money to burn.

I would not begrudge Victor any of the success and acclaim he has - he earned it by teaching himself to be a great musician and a incredible human being.

If it's true, Victor certainly doesn't act or live like he's well heeled. He's earned every bit of money he has by working hard.

Sorry - mean and moody isn't who Victor is. He is precisely what you see in all his ads.

As a musician and as a person, you've got to be who you are.

He's right. I tried playing without using a power cable, and my amp didn't sound good. Well, it didn't sound anything! Plus my string noise was way more noticeable.

Fortunately, Essential Sound Power Cables (or literally any power cable of sufficient diameter) fixed this problem completely! My amp's lights are now all functioning, and it sounds great.

I'd hate for this post to imply that I was successfully scammed by Essential Sound, so I should clarify that I have never purchased one.

I am going to have to agree with you 100%..being in the nashville area and someone who knows victor personally..he is one hard working guy..and always on the move..motivated and on a mission..he has been successful all on his own merit..nothing was handed to him..we are all different..with different lives and different views..people should never begrudge other people ..better to find a way to improve yourself..as opposed to criticizing others..Victor is happy with his life..and happiness in life means a lot..victor always pushes himself..and he makes it look easy..it actuallity..its a long journey..but Victor always surrounded himself with positive karma..and disregarded the negative aspects of life..Victor is a fun person to be around..and no matter what you believe..he can play bass..and he does it all..not just thumb and snap..he can play in ways that no other person can imagine..he has invented new techniques..and stretched the boundries of imagination when it comes to bass guitar..many of you should not be casting stones..its just not right..it only shows you are not at peace with yourself..

He's on every darn TB page with that strings advert and I can't take much more of that Victor smile that says he's richer, more successful and much happier than me... every time the ad appears it's like a reminder of it but it just keeps coming back. I need help.

I try letting the ads through once in a while but then I find it's the same ads from one website to the next and after I've seen them once, what's the point? I just bought a brand new car, I'm not going to trade it in and buy next year's version of the same car. I have an Ampeg and Fender Jazz that I'm 100% happy with so no need there. My lawn is 1/2 acre and I have a 60" 28 horsepower 16 mph mower to cut it with so no needs there. I just don't need to see ads. Sorry.

He's still a bass player though, it's not like he's going to be THAT rich or happy. You can console yourself he's also likely much better with the ladies than any of us are. But again, in relative terms, since he's a bass player.

With 150 acres of farm land around Nashville, he's doing a lot better than you think... Plus a few other bits and bobs. He's done alright for himself...

Sheesh........you'd think since we humans are all on the same tiny little planet that we could get a brief meeting together and figure out what to call what!

Bangers and mash in the UK? That's sausage links and potatoes in the US.

A flat in the UK? That's an apartment in the US.

A lift in the UK? That's an elevator in the US.

In the UK, you don't "call" someone on the phone like we do in the US, you "ring" them.

Not to forget asking for the bathroom when it isn't a bath that you want to take. I don't get why the word "toilet" is off limits. The worst part is, in Australia it's catching on and people are calling the toilet/loo/john/head/can/whatever, the bathroom???

Until it was mentioned, here, I had never noticed Mr. Wooten at the top of the page.
I make a point of ignoring the ads, and try to avoid purchasing any product whose advertisements have annoyed me. But it doesn't bother me for him to endorse a product.

I know this thread was intended to be humorous - I got it straight away but pretty soon it was off and running with criticism of V.W. I have noticed here on TB and I guess, the web in general, a very common tendency to make gross assumptions very quickly. It's too easy to shoot from the hip without considering the issue at hand and very quickly things escalate and you have an angry conflict.
Most people are decent but a bad day or a moment of frustration can result in emotions boiling over. Chill, take a moment to consider where the other person is coming from. Put yourself in their place if you can, before you shoot off a damning dismissal of someone else's story.
