How do you add an avatar?

yup

That's the main reason why I became a supporting member.

For that alone it's 20$ a year well spend. Your fellow forum members recognize you better by that bit more individuality Paul (forum owner) grants you in exchange for your financial support.

I love this site, I support... cause it takes some dough and a lot of effort from the admins to keep it running.

Gotcha. Thanks. Considering the fact that I've never had to pay $$$ on any other forum, ever, to have an avatar, that's out. I'm on a million different internet forums (yes, I need to get out more) and I've nevefr even seen such a thing. Doing something like having a private section, or some kind of special access, I can see... but pay for an avatar?

It's unfortunate, too, because I would gladly contribute to help keep a forum like this one afloat, but now that I understand I'm denied having a tiny picture next to my user name unless I pay up, I think I'll run the opposite direction.

Ridiculous.

Nah, sorry. Not when NO other forum I've ever participated in doesn't require a payment just to have an avatar. Like I already posted, a private forum/some kind of special access/privileged info/access to deals on gear, etc. - YES, that may very well be worth it.... But to have an avatar for a user name? Not to mention that this forum has been around long enough and attracts enough members that a ONE TIME payment of $20 would seem to be sufficient. So if I'm posting here for 5 years- that means I've paid $100 to have an avatar and post on one of about 8 billion bass forums on the Internet? Nah, that's ok.

You have other advantage also, not just the avatar.
It's very expensive to run a forum as big as talkbass. If you like the place 20$ a year is not that much.

Uhmmm

I guess I wasn't too clear in my previous post.

For me personally it's worth to pay for the avatar.
You off course get more advantages, but me personally I don't need the other advantages that much.
(Other bonusses are explained somewhere on the site.

And I personally think that 20$ isn't that much out of my pocket if you frequent this place a lot, like it, and made many internet friends. :D

Supporting is a free choice still. ;)

Now you're talking. Can you be more specific as to what the special access is for?

Oh yeah, you will see I paid more for a GOLD supporting membership.

That's because I'm filthy rich.
You will see that if you choose to become a supporting member.
Then you have acces to a subforum called "the Lobby".
You'll see there that about each month I raffle off a bass from my breathing collection. (mostly a bass in the 1000$ range.)

So you miss out on a lot.

:ninja: :p
