I'm sure the answer is right in front of my face somewhere, but when I "edit my profile", etc., I don't see anywhere to upload an avatar pic. Any help is appreciated...

That's the main reason why I became a supporting member.
For that alone it's 20$ a year well spend. Your fellow forum members recognize you better by that bit more individuality Paul (forum owner) grants you in exchange for your financial support.
I love this site, I support... cause it takes some dough and a lot of effort from the admins to keep it running.

Gotcha. Thanks. Considering the fact that I've never had to pay $$$ on any other forum, ever, to have an avatar, that's out. I'm on a million different internet forums (yes, I need to get out more) and I've nevefr even seen such a thing. Doing something like having a private section, or some kind of special access, I can see... but pay for an avatar?
It's unfortunate, too, because I would gladly contribute to help keep a forum like this one afloat, but now that I understand I'm denied having a tiny picture next to my user name unless I pay up, I think I'll run the opposite direction.

You have other advantage also, not just the avatar.
It's very expensive to run a forum as big as talkbass. If you like the place 20$ a year is not that much.

I guess I wasn't too clear in my previous post.
For me personally it's worth to pay for the avatar.
You off course get more advantages, but me personally I don't need the other advantages that much.
(Other bonusses are explained somewhere on the site.
And I personally think that 20$ isn't that much out of my pocket if you frequent this place a lot, like it, and made many internet friends.
Supporting is a free choice still.
