How do you get your 810 around

Rock and Roll and necessity are not compatible subjects.:-)

Ergo a 4x10 would be a pointless waste of minimalist transport space.:-)

I've always loved this picture. It's just so perfectly rock and roll.

Can you guys tell me any situation you've been in that you actually needed a 810 instead of a 410? I genuialy wonder.

The last two bands I was in, I had very heavy-handed drummers who loved to put their chinas and rides on my side of the stage. This made it very difficult to hear my bass through the Low B2 with all the cymbal wash and the ridiculous drum wedge setup which the drummer insisted had every drum he owned mic'd and coming out of it at deafening levels. I purchased an 810 and had all the push I needed. One band was rock, and the other was pop. Granted, I could have simply gone with an amp stand for my Low B2, but I sort of liked hearing the words, "Jesus, man, don't you think your bass rig is loud enough?" out of their mouths.

Eventually, I went in-ears for monitors, but still have my 810 (using it this weekend for a fill-in gig) and my LowB2 (great sounding little cab!)

I'd recommend the OP look into something smaller and modular. The great thing about the Low B2, for instance, is that two of them, stacked, are VERY audible, and sound insanely good. And for what you might spend on a new 810, you're pretty close in the ballpark as it is. Heck, 4 112 bass cabs stacked high would work and be much easier to tote, as well.

Just wondering how very one gets their fridges around. I've found one for a great price, alas I only have a very small car which barely fits a 410.

Any tips/ideas on transporting? And no, I can't afford a bigger car lol.

If you can't afford a vehicle big enough to transport it, you probably shouldn't buy it. I have an Acura MDX which is large enough for me to fit all my gear but I usually gig with two 410 cabs. They are much easier to transport.

Pretty sure a Subaru Wagon would swallow one as well with rear seats down....For sure my outback can take my 2x15 cab, but I'd hate to use it right now in it's bare wood stripped condition.

yep, ampeg 810 fits right in my 2004 subaru forester, and i've got the driver's seat all the way back. i leave the back seats folded flat all the time.

i think it may also fit in my wife's mazda hatchback, but i have not yet had to try.

Haha love the crane.

I have a Hyundai lantra, not sure if they are very popular in the states but I live in Australia and they are fairly popular over here.

The problem i have, is when I load my 410 in the back seats, the rear doors don't open wide enough to put it straight in, so I have to put the front seats right forward and load the cab on an angle, and even still I just scrape the sides of the door and trim. I imagine with the length of an 810 this would be damn near impossible.

My band is just starting to get play some fairly large venues and I play an svt 7 which is rated at 1000 watts, through a svt 410hlf which is only rated at 500w so I just want that extra room in the cab.

I have found a Mesa 810 at a very good price and it seems like a really good opportunity but I'm just struggling to find a decent way to transport,

A friend suggested install roof racks but I just don't think that is a good idea especially in wet weather.

My other option is looking at some of those neo 410's rated at 1000w or possibly a 610

A friend of mine used to put his Ampeg 810 in his hyundai.

He did this by opening the rear left side door, and the front passenger door, and sliding it in diagonally with the seat folded down. Once in, he'd slide it all the way over to cover the front and back right seats, leaving the driver seat and rear left passenger seat open. Head and bass went in the trunk.
