How do you listen to music?

Phone mostly. Bluetooth into the car radio, home theatre or Bose alarm clock. Or a Bose neckwear thing for walking the dog. Generally MP3s for old music and TuneIn for new music. Spotify just annoys me, but genre specific stations work. Got some JBL earbuds but they were reluctant to let go my phone so now they just gather dust. Won't be going that route again till the price comes way down.



Still got a ton of vinyl and CDS but don't really have time to sit and listen to albums much these days. See what retirement brings I guess.

At home, through my work computer with Focusrite Clarett + Adam A5X monitors. Very rarely, with my phone through a BT speaker. Outside, with my Valco BT closed headphones.

Mostly on the iPod, either at work via a JBL dock or in the car. Sometimes when I'm working from home I'll hook it up to the stereo - Pioneer receiver with Norman Lab 3-way speakers. Other times I'll listen to Sirius-XM on the car stereo. When I'm doing the bills, I'll listen on the computer using iTunes. Now and then I'll listen on YouTube when a video is posted on Facebook or our son shares a link with me.

For me, a lot of times, it's just simply playing a video on YouTube (or Music / Spotify) on my phone where the bass response is not very good. Other times, I'll use Air Pods but between the phone with and without Air Pods, that covers 90% of my listening habits.

I'm old-school. I listen to music on surround wall mounted speakers with a floor standing Sub-Woofer. I like hearing all the music details. Sometimes, I listen with full ear headphones on YouTube. Like I said, I'm old-school.

These days it is Spotify, through a Mackie CR1604 VLZ mixer, into my Mackie HR824 studio monitors.

If I have time to lounge in my finished basement I listen on home stereo - Polk Audio speakers, Denon receiver, Technics CD player; receiver is set up for Bluetooth and library on my phone is pretty extensive. Most of the time I’m running around doing chores and I use Bose wireless headphones. I had a $1700 sound system set up in my car and, sadly, six months later I got rear ended and car was totaled; removed the sound system but have not had the wherewithal to install it in the new car yet. Much to my family’s chagrin, if I’m not playing music I’m listening to it.

I have a wifi radio running through my home stereo that runs virtually 24/7. Although, learning a tune, or looking for a tune to play, is done via my pc with Itunes and Youtube.

My bass, pc and radio if I want, all runs through a mixer to headphones...I like Grados.

I normally listen to music on my computer either through a bose sound bar, or some Sennheiser HD 280, Audio Technica ATH40mx's. I use a headphone amp to drive them or my Sony WF-1000XM4's if I'm using my portable bluetooth player or phone.

In my lounge, CD, SACD, DVD or Blu-Ray, on a decent Hi-Fi while doing nothing else but listen to the music. Else on a JBL portable speaker while I'm doing unrelated work, or not at all. Occasionally look something up on YouTube or Spotify.
I'm sad to see music devalued by mediocre fidelity and lack of 'occasion' - as in just a noise that is there every waking hour. To me, other than baclground while working or driving, it remains special and something to concentrate on.

Well there's Dubstep in the nightclub. It might not be "music", but it sure is bass off vinyl through speakers it's made to be played on.

If you listen to that, you're very aware of the compromises made by other, more practical, media.

Roon. Fed by Tidal and Qobuz, and soon by my 500+ CD's in addition ( the very few that are not already in my library ).

All highest resolution available. Beautiful interface. A small sample of the 1,575 FULL albums ( with artwork ) that I have loaded so far. Not cheap, but probably the very best in digital music delivery. It pushes the music from my local PC device to all of my "endpoints". Multi-room, Multi-goodness.

When I listen to music I put on an album and listen to it through from beginning to end. I'm fully engaged with it the whole time, with no distractions or other activities. I stand facing the speakers and usually sing and/or dance with it.
Music is a Sacred spiritual practice for me.
When I'm working on new music, I don't listen to any other music. I work on my songs every day and only play my own music. For example, I've been in my first Creative phase in 5 years. It started a year ago and I haven't listened to any music but what I'm recording in a year. It keeps my consciousness clear of any external influence, so my Creations are pure, and it forces me to Create the music I crave to hear.

Yep, same (although I have Naim Audio gear with a Thorens turntable). I use YouTube etc for research, but not for actual "listening".

I spent a decade not playing in bands, not gassing for music gear, and obsessively building a hifi. I like to sit down and listen to whole albums. Use Roon on an iPad for control, mostly streaming from Qobuz.

I know it's over-the-top, but that's a function of choices: We don't have kids, and I've driven the same Mazda for 19 years....

Usually vinyl, sometimes CD, sometimes cassette. Also via the bandcamp site and headphones, less often Youtube or Amazon music streaming. I like a physical object. It's silly, but it makes the music more special. I can upload my weird tunes to the net and have them streamed, I can't put them out on a vinyl lp. Stupid, but that's how my mind works sometimes.
