How do you make your living?

I'm a pre-sales system engineer with a software company based in the Netherlands. Home office, cable modem, airports, the whole nine... Been in computers since 77 in the USAF. Why when I was your age *cough* we had to move bits one byte at a time! Uphill! Both ways! *cough*

Unfortunately I have free time in many cities to peruse music stores, among other things.

As a matter of fact I do work on the Western Shore.I've worked as far south as Lexington Park, going north to Elkton, D.C., Balt. etc.You know how it can be over here at times.

i got this paper route workin' for me... oh yeah and my parents help out since i'm 15. once i got $1.36 playing sax on the street corner, back when i couldn't improvise; bet i could get at least $3 a day now. i wouldn't want to bring my bass; not to MY street corners anyway

I teach music and bass
I play bass (for those who pay)
I write, market and distribute a bass book, The Chordal Approach (more to come)
and I run a ski and snowboard school in the winter

Fun life , huh?
BTW - my wife has a really nice job with retirement, health ins, bennies -cool, huh?

I need to rack up more posts so I can make it to "Veteran" status. Actually, after reading the previous 5 pages of posts, I'm guessing that long-time members are called "Veterans", rather than "senior" like I've seen on other BBSs, in honor of the huge military presence on this site?

Anyway, that's a good segue into what I do. I manage computer systems for a defense contractor. I haven't played much since college, but over the last year and a half or so lately I've been using that job to fund a lot of music/recording equipment. I've played guitar since about 1983 but I finally bought a bass this past June. I'm having so much fun learning something new that I've hardly picked up my guitars since then.
