How LOUD is a Rumble 500c + 2x10

Hi All!

I’ve lurked a bit, great knowledge on the forum, need advice, first post.

I am ampless. Need to buy a loud rig, keeping it in the 1 - 1.5k range.

The band is a LOUD original rock band, 2 100 watt guitarists, very loud drummer.

I am wondering if a Rumble 500c + Rumble 2x10 will keep up with a seriously loud band. Yes there is a PA w/ a sub, but let’s pretend there is no PA support.

Yes yes yes, we should turn down… yes yes yes, no one should be that loud… yes yes yes, you’re happy your not going to the shows… I get all that. But…

Will a Rumble 500c + 2x10 keep up? Truly???
If not, will the 800?

Thank you Giffro, but please don’t make me read through 2,676 pages hoping to get an answer to a very specific question. Lol.
And I’ve read many pages of the club, and many reviews… The problem is is, many peoples definition of “loud” is very different.
Hoping the 500c + 2x10 will do the trick, but I’m skeptical. Hoping for clarity.

I run the 500C with an ext 115 cab if needed and with a pretty heavy drummer and 2 100w guitarists as well and loud rock songs the 500C cuts through just fine..i mainly have used my '91 Peavey 5 string Dyna bass with it but the 5 string EB Stingray and Rick 4003 sound just as thunderous through the rig as well. Good luck with your decision.

I have owned a 500 and I have played in loud bands but not at the same time. I would suggest a different setup than the rumble.

If you need loud...

Lots and lots of speakers.

The more speakers you have (the more air you're pushing), the fewer watts needed.

Lots of watts and fewer speakers leads to speaker damage.

I don't know where you're located but here I could get just about any rig I want for 1.5k used.

I use a Rumble 500c in a moderately loud rock band and haven't needed to turn up the volume much past halfway. With an extension cab you should be fine.

Try it out and keep your receipts, return it if it doesn't get the job done.

Or, just turn down and a Rumble will work just fine! Don't understand the want to be loud!

It's always possible to be out-louded on most equipment, but the 500c plus the 2x10 extension cabinet will be very, very loud. It shouldn't be a problem.

How loud depends entirely upon your preferred EQ settings. Lows eat up a lot of power (all of it). As mentioned above, an extension cabinet will help considerably. More speaker area will move more air.

Loud band you say? Sorry, LOUD, in capitals.

I don't think a single 210 will be loud enough. It's not so much the amplifier, but the speakers. Going to 800W won't help you, getting a second 210, however, will be noticeably louder still with the 500.

As a stage monitor it should be fine, 'though. But if you think you might go without PA support sometimes... a single 210 just won't cut it for a band like you describe.
