How low slung is your bass?

When I started playing bass I had to have the strap set a little high to be able to comfortably play.

Just recently I've changed and now have my bass slung a couple of notches lower and it feels good.

You guys shifted around with your stance over time?

Fingerstyle here, I imagine can sling lower if you use a pick.

Mine has stayed put for over 35 years, off the hip.

My basses have been moving slowly up over the decades (in my 5th decade of playing bass at this point). I used to have to find super long guitar straps (I'm also tall, which contributes to this), but now, standard length ones are OK. The neck on my basses ends up being just above my belt buckle at this point.

Billy Sheehan suggests you have your bass hung on your body so that, when you sit down, it just touches your lap - the bass is at the same height w.r.t. your upper body whether you're sitting or standing. My bass is still below that, but if the trend continues (about half an inch a decade) in a couple of decades, I'll be there.
