Just had to recast my vote as I'm down to 4 basses now - the Fender Precision Mike Dirnt has finally gone and there's no replacement in sight. Not sure if I should be worried but my bass guitar GAS seems to have gone. I used to dream of having a dozen or so basses but now I seem content with the 4 basses that I have. Do I need therapy??!??!

You have a case of Bassicus Minimalis -- there's no known treatment

Well, I've heard that a "hair of the dog" type treatment has helped some with the same affliction. Just go out and buy any old bass whether you want it or not and play it non-stop for a few days. GAS will return. Or so I'm told...

I recently sold three basses and bought one. Four is a more acceptable number than six for me.

I thought I would be able to reduce the number of basses I own if I bought a Yamaha 5-string PJ to replace my 4-string Fender P and my 5-string Washburn.

But it hasn't worked out.

I feel I can't let go of the Fender. It's on the market, but I want to take it off. I'm afraid I'll regret it if I sell it. My first bass was a Fender P. And now, when it comes down to it, I feel being without one would be like losing a family member.

By the way, my 'family' has six members.
