How many basses do you own? (Currently) Part 2

Here is the story and photos enjoy the ride
I had mention I was in the market for another bass #12 and I had been pursuing the internet for a few months now, I was hurting a good quality bass that had good ratings, but not highly expensive since all my bass have to be gigging bass not stay at home trophies. Yesterday I hit CL and came across a bass in my hometown a brand I was looking at and right up the street from me. The seller was moving by Thursday and he didn’t want to bring his sons bass since his son was already there and had an upright another bass where they were going.
The bass is an Ibanez model SR 300 DX with active/passive pups. The price was $100.00 which included the guitar research hard shell case and strap with strap locks.
I respond to the ad when I got home from the office and the guy got back to me and I met him at his place.
The bass at first glance, no starches or belt rash and the neck was straight and the string height was low.
He didn’t know I am sure it used a 9 volt, but I was able to still test it with the one in it ok.
I brought my snark with me my string gauges height tool, neck radius tool so I could check it out.
Inside the case was the owner’s manual and the Allen keys
The bass played well the neck was as I mention straight I found no dead spots or fret buzz after tuning it up and I liked the feel of it in my hands.
I then check the string height was way lower than I like and the radius was off, the intonation was good the rest I could fix at home. It need strings big time and the body and neck needed to be cleaned. I played it liked it and bought it! Here are the photos first are when I got it home you can see the finger smudges and neck condition before I clean it up and turn away quickly when you look at the string condition scary

Well, if we are including disassembled project basses waiting to go under the knife, then I have two.
But that brings me to another question:
What if you have a bass in layaway? Or you commissioned a build from someone but it's still a work in progress?
I just put a bass in layaway (I was amp shopping, but fell in love with a bass and bundled it into a deal with the amp I bought...they are in layaway together...)
Do I count that one, bringing it to three? Or do I have to wait until it is in my possession?
Feels like limbo. I "kinda" own three basses, but one is 45 miles away from me at a store and of the two in my actual possession, only one is functional...
Yeah, thinking it has to be in your possession. Possession is 9/10 of the law!
I am retired from my job and gigging. But I still play and hope to develop a country band with the grandkids. I have:

Currently 8 (had some spending sprees over the last 5 years that had the number well over a dozen at one point, forced sales and a couple that got stolen brought it back down to 8.5)

.5= my first one squier II pbass late 80s with the top horn cut off, headstock cut down and frets removed (filled with wood putty, may or may not epoxy it). Perpetually awaiting a paint job and reassembly, likely getting the pu from my 2000p once the duncan qp goes in.

I never really noticed until this thread, but I always have two. Usually a new bass I just bought that I'm super excited about and whatever the last bass I bought I was super excited about but don't really like anymore as my backup.
Then usually if I get excited about a new bass I sell my backup and buy the shiny new one and have what used to be my main as a backup.
My music purchasing decisions are based mostly on spontaneity and lack of discipline and lack of patience.
