Out of curiosity, how did you play that first show... loaner bass?

Well, actually yes. But the point is that I NOW own 7, and gigs paid for all 7 of them. But then again, gigs paid for EVERY bit of music gear I have except for one acoustic guitar I bought with bonus money from work.

Before I started gigging I had one electric guitar, one guitar amp, and one acoustic guitar (and maybe a wha pedal). After I played some gigs on the borrowed Mustang Bass, I used gig money to buy the first bass cabinet (Music Man 212RH), then traded the Twin Reverb I owned for a black-face Bassman head and a used Precision. After that, it was all gig money.

Just two at the moment. I have pared my collection down to a really good fretted and a really good fretless. Earlier this year I had 4, including 3 jazz basses! But the collection had to be cut down!

I work 5 days a week, plus school, plus gigging. I didn't come from a rich family and I pay for everything I own myself.
