How many basses this Year?

Part 2!

Last year I started a thread on this topic, with entertaining results!

Hiding basses under the bed? 3 basses in transit? This is your thread, come clean!

This year:

1) Bought a Squier VM Telecaster
2) Sold aforementioned Squier
3) Bought Hartke LH1000 head and AK 410 cabinet
4) Sold Fender V2 series 150w combo
5) Made it clear to Father's Day, my wife bought me a Fender American Standard Jazz!
6) Thought I should try another active bass, got a TBX-504 Yamaha. Nice bass just never sat right
7) Returned TBX, bought used Ray 34 in awesome sparkle blue
8) Sold LPB P bass, had that one almost a year!
9) Got a Fireburst Satin SG
10) Reacquired a Squier Precision Special that I sold last year.

Do bass players move equipment faster than guitar players? Maybe~

Pretty light year for me (activity-wise) and I expect 2015 to be even less eventful.

- Bought a Fodera Monarch Deluxe 5er
- Bought a Peavey BXP 5er used for super cheap and sold it as it wasn't getting used. Amazing basses for the $$$.
- Bought a nearly new Hofner 500/1 and absolutely hated it. I hated the string spacing, the short scale, ergonomics and the tone. Sold it within a week.
- I sold a Fodera Monarch Standard 5er to fund another Fodera.
- Bought another Fodera Monarch.

I also sold a Jule Monique rack mount (still have a Monique Dove Cage), a Crest power amp, a Crown power amp, a PedalTrain board and most of my effects (Darkglass B3K, Diamond Comp and a few others).

I have a Jazz 5er coming next spring, but I don't expect to buy, sell or trade anything else for a long time. Note: I have said that before.;)

Nice thread...

Bought a Squier VM Jaguar V

Bought a Gator ATA case for the jag

Bought all new hardware for the jag

Bought a Joyo Compressor

Bought a pair of Avatar 210 cabs

Bought a GK MB800 head

Sold a GK 800RB

Sold a Hartke 410xl

Bought an Avatar 115 cab

Sold a CarolBrass pro trumpet to offset my bass rig update

This is all since September, but it's the first time I've purchased any new bass gear in several years.

EDIT:
Add a Squier VM Jag Short Scale to that list... I just ordered one for my nephew. Since he is just turning 3, I will have some time to break it in for him :D

I need help.

This year was the heaviest year I've ever had.

1) G&L LB-100...sold...
2) Yamaha BB404F Fretless...sold...
3) Epiphone Allen Woody Rumblekat...sold...
4) Reverend Decision...sold...
5) Mike Lull P4...sold...
6) Musicman Sabre...sold...
7) Musicman HH Stingray Fretless...sold...
8) Ibanez Portamento Fretless 4...sold...
9) G&L SB-2 (soon to be on the block this upcoming week if #8 works out..)
10) G&L LB-100 #2 (coming Tuesday)

I also had a G&L Tribute JB-2 that got returned due to a twisted neck and another G&L LB-100 that got returned to a flawed tuner and a fretboard imperfection that I couldn't live with.

Basically on average I've only kept a bass for a month and a half this year. I'm hoping the LB-100 I have coming on Tuesday is a keeper because I really need to make 2015 a bass free year.

First I went to buy a $300 Epi Les Paul LP100,walked out with a $1100 Epi Les Paul Standard Plustop Pro Cherryburst

then I realised i had 2 guitars and only 1 bass, outrageous,

so I bought an MIM P bass

then a MarkBass LM250 amp

then an MIA P bass

then a Takamine ABG, and a gig bag

then a bag for my MarkBass amp.

them a Mooer Pure Boost

then a Mooer Yellow Comp

and a Mooer pedalboard case

then Mooer Thunderball and Baby Tuner and Graphic EQ

Then a Tascam DR40 Digital Multitrack recorder

just recently an MXR M87 Bass Comressor

need a chorus pedal then that's it, I promise.

Your "Decidedly Undecided" tag under your name makes me laugh. I do enjoy your frequent NBD posts though!

I usually do one major purchase a year. I think this last year I did only one bass but in 2015 I have no clue because I was brought on to Zane guitars and basses to do research and development for them and I kn they are making me several different guitars and basses right now.

Basses (original topic)

SBMM SUB Ray 4 (Satin Black) - January
Squier VM Jazz Bass (white) - March
SBMM SB4 (black) - September
Yamaha TRBX305 (red) - November

Out of G.A.S. guilt and lack of use, I sold my SBMM SUB ray 5 (walnut) in march. If my wife won't kill me, I'd like to add a couple more this year. :)

Amps/Cabs:

Carvin BX250
Markbass LM II - (traded my TC Electronics BG250-210 to get it)
2x Hartke 210XL cabinets

Oddly enough, I think my amp/cab G.A.S. is pretty much non-existent.

Rather light year.
Sold my cheap Harley Benton bass and it's cheap amp
Bought an Ampeg Ba-115
Bought a Fender AM. std. Jazz bass
Currently have an Epiphone les paul guitar in transit.

While the GAS is big the budget isnt. I have had the same 2002 Ibanez SR480 since 2003 the same 93 SR500 since 2004 and the same Crate amps since then. Only new straps and recording gear for 2014.

I must admit to a bad case of GAS for a Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar V bass.

I've been playing combos and amp cabs in store and I am getting gas for a Fender Rumble 500 2x10 and 1x15 cab.

I basically shifted around my entire rig this year. The only bass that has avoided the chopping block is my yamaha RBX 170. In the past 6 months I have bought:

-Ibanez SR506
-Ibanez SR505
-Fender MIA Jazz
-Fender MIA Precision
-Squier VM fretless
-Peavey Cirrus 5
-Carvin LB76

And that's not even including the dozen pedals and new rumble 150 I bought. I should really find a GAS support group. I guess TB will have to do in the meantime!

I had a crazy year.

- Modern Player Jazz
- Hagstrom Beluga II-F
- 60th Anniversary P Bass
- MIM Jazz fretless

All but the MPJ were used and it had some shop wear so I got a really good price on it, too. Bought a few guitars too, so I'm going to have to cool it down next year for sure.
