How many basses this Year?

Please explain how the weather correlates to bass purchases!?

I may need this information

Last year I bought two basses during one of the worst winters the Midwest has ever seen and one of those basses was my Martin Acoustic it sat outside in subzero temps inside a package car for over a week because it couldn't be delivered and this is with zero updates during that time even calling Fedex got me nothing. All the major carriers are experiencing major growth due to the Holiday online shopping so for me personally I'll either buy something now before it gets bad or wait til the weather clears in the spring.

How did the Martin turn out after all that?

Nope, no basses this year. I did look at a couple and I was tempted ... designed a tasty 5-string Sandberg using their online wizard and almost hit the button, and I looked at some cheaper six-stringers as well as a semi-acoustic bass, but managed to restrain myself. :)

Didn't buy any this year and barring an unexpected windfall of cash, I don't plan on buying any basses next year either.

I've got 4 electrics and 2 uprights. The only bass I've ever sold was my first Peavey T-40.

Sure, it would be great to have a big "stable" of basses to choose from, but I already feel weird if I haven't picked up and played one of mine for a while.

I don't need a bunch of lonely basses in the corner staring at me.

2013 was a really light year for me, I sold one bass, bought one bass and one snare drum, upgraded my bass rig and PA. For me that wasn't too over the top. I assumed that I had matured and my bass (and drum) G.A.S. was forever cured.

I WAS WRONG.

I bought an early 2000s FSR Ash American Jazz bass, that was my only purchase through May of this year. Things picked up a bit in June...

I ordered and paid for a Rickenbacker 4003W the first week of June, I'm still waiting for it to arrive. I'm counting this as my second bass purchase for the year, that wasn't too bad. Two new basses?

A new old stock American Select Precision popped up on eBay for a ridiculously low price the day I got out of the hospital from a health scare. I took that as a sign and bought it. That was the third week of June and that made three new basses this year. (Uh-oh.)

I LOVED the neck on the Select P! Right about that time Fender came out with the American Standard Jaguar bass. That really seemed cool, but they didn't offer it with a maple fret board. I got the crazy idea to order an American Standard Jaguar body and an American Select Precision neck from "the Stratosphere" and put together the "perfect" (at least for me) Jaguar bass. It took a while to get all of the parts and pieces together, but I did it. That was bass number four for the year.

I stumbled upon a Peavey Foundation for a good price, that was at the end of the summer and brought my bass acquisitions for the year to five.

I got rid of one around this time. I traded my Schecter C-4 XXX for a Martin acoustic electric guitar, I couldn't pass that deal up.

I'd been wanting to pick up my first five string for a while. I was planning on buying an American Standard Precision V, but I stumbled upon an American Deluxe Dimension HH V brand new for a good price. That was bass purchase number six for 2014.

I ran across a Fender American Precision Plus (Boner bass) that a local guy was selling. I've always wanted to own an American Precision with a P/J configuration. This one is in perfect condition for a 23 year old bass. Yes, it came home with me too. Um, that was number seven.

When the Honeyburst Precision special came out in 2012 I commented that I'd love to own one someday. Two years later I bought one and it's been getting a lot of use these days. That was number eight.

Then a friend of mine dropped his favorite bass, a Schecter five string and he put an ugly gouge in it. He asked me to PLEASE buy it from him to get it out of his sight. I really had no interest in that bass, but he offered it to me for less than the price of a used Affinity bass. That brought the total to nine bass purchases this year, balanced by trading one away.

On top of this I bought an American Special Telecaster, a Hot Rod Deluxe tube guitar amp, a Blues Deluxe tube amp, A Bassman TV 12 combo amp, a vintage Gretsch USA drum kit, some Chauvet LED lights and I bought a couple of more QSC K-12s as monitors in a continuation of upgrading my PA.

We need a bigger house...

First new bass since 1996: SX Ursa 2 6-string in CAR. For $99, I couldn't say no.

Restored: 69 Tele bass, body miraculously transformed by @johnk10, I added a new neck and it's essentially a brand new 45 year old bass.

Repurposed: Bought a sonic blue p body for my 65 neck. Nice having that old neck in my hands again.

This year?
I bought a bass for the first time in years back in February, so now I have too--a short scale EB-3 copy & a fretless.
I bought a three used pedals--mostly for guitar, but the volume pedal should work well with my basses.
Maybe the EQ & Chorus--but maybe not.
I bought a hardshell case for the bass as well.

That's about it.
I already had a spare strap so I didn't need to get a new one, and I have plenty of cables, although I bought a couple of short ones to use with my Chorus & EQ.

I might buy some more strings before the year is up.

Might as well since it won't take long to type:

-fretless EBMM Stingray w/piezo
-BOSS OC-3
-Geddy Lee Jazz neck

2015 will be a big year of obtaining the right equipment, still need a good rig, these purchases above were my "getting back in the game so let's buy some new stuff" purchases

Also, before these I hadn't purchased anything bass related since 2007, which was a MIM Jazz and a Fender combo

Wow, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who went little crazy with purchases this year!!...lol
If this "year" can mean the last 12 months then here it goes-

Lakland 55-02 deluxe
Fender '64 AVRI jazz
Music man stingray
Squire fretless jazz
Ovation acoustic guitar(traded an ashdown combo for that)

Other stuff..lol-
Ampeg 810
2 svp-CL,s
2 svp-1600's
Pedaltrain 2 and mini
Pedal power2 ans iso 5
Literally 40 or so effect pedals(about half I ended up flipping or trading, so currently @12-14 on the board).
10space gator rack
6 space skb rack
Cables, strings, etc...

In my defense the prior 3-4 years I literally only bought a G50 wireless...

Only one this year, brand new Geddy Lee Jazz in sunburst. First new bass since 2004. Looking to add a Precision to the stable, but I doubt that will happen in the next 3 weeks. Looking ahead to 2015, my plan is this:

New speaker cabinets: thinking a 2x10 and a 1x15, and it's quite possible that I get a Rumble 500 with a 1x15 extension cab if I like them.
Roadworn Precision in sunburst
Schecter Model-T, preferably sunburst w/maple board, but might settle for black & maple

Sold
Yamaha RBX something or other - sat under the bed for 10 years. Seemed like a good idea at the time, but thereafter a massive mistake on every level.
Fender American Standard Precision - nice piece of wood, but... yawn... just another characterless Precision. Go ahead, flame me.

Bought
Fender Pawn Shop Mustang - candy apple red with racing stripes, yeah baby.
Fender Standard Jazz Fretless - give me mwah! Oh, but the bridge was rubbish so I swapped it for a Fender Pure Vintage 60's bridge.
Sandberg TM4 - ordered but still waiting. My wife will be filing for divorce when she sees me walk through the door with this one.

Shaping up for an interesting 2015. Got my eye on an Ampeg V4B or a Fender Bassman 100T.
