12 Basses, 2 Preamps & Cabinets, and more Effects than you could shake a Chapman Stick at, and although the Better-Half will bust my ba... chops from time-to-time it's all for fun, as not only was one of the things that she dug about me at the beginning of our relationship (and still does :smug: ) was the fact that I was a "Working Musician": i.e. not just playing against recordings in my bedroom, not even that I was in a band, but that I was doing Sessions and Live Gigs for money... but she also gets that I have and need a "Toolbox" of different Bass tones, Effects, Preamps, etc. Also working in my favor is that I don't have 11 different models of the same "type" of Basses, such as all Jazz or P-Basses: they're a pretty diverse bunch. :D

Your wife is definitely getting off light! Lucky mine supports my incurable GAS...currently have 5 basses, 3 guitars, 1 violin, 1 baglama, a couple of hand drums and 2 amps! The number will definitely increase if I find anything interesting...and I find many things interesting! Also, I must add that, with a few exceptions (they were absolute driftwood!), I regret every instrument and amp I've ever parted with.

For interest, the present bass collection includes 2 Rickenbacker 4001s, a '61 Gibson EB3, a MusicMan SUB fretless and a Gretsch 5440 hollowbody.

For 42 years I've used the same Fender Precision Bass. I've had the wife for 36 years. The Fender Bass responds better, has cost me less, helped me earn a living and has aged well for being played out twice a week over 40 years. My wife has cost a little more, has shared my life's experiences, help me keep my head above water and been a real friend. I say, in your life, you need one woman and one bass. They simply have to be The RIGHT ONES!

Ibanez gsr 200 (first bass and I ripped the frets out, will never part with it lol)
2004 fender marcus miller jazz
2012 fender American special Honeyburst maple p bass
A couple of practice amps,but it I plan on getting a ampeg 60s b15 and that will be it for amps. Only two basses left off my list which are a MM Stingray, and the fender Jaco fret less. Thankfully my bass GAS is less than my firearms GAS, and cheaper lol

My wife gave up long ago, but we're still happily married. 15 yrs in.

2 electric bass and 1 acoustic bass
2 amps (1 large rig, and medium combo)

I fancy myself as a realist. A main set, and a backup set. One acoustic for the few unplugged shows we play. If the acoustic went out, then the electric fills in. I love to look and play others, but just can't seem to pull the trigger on more basses.

I play 5. I've had more and had less over the decades, but 5 is about right for me.

A zon, ex factor, and 3 modulus.

I agree, the bass is far better than the significant other, they never cheat, they do not get jealous if you play with or have another, they cost much less and you get what you put into them.

And yes, at least you know where they are if they are playing bass. There's many worse things we could be doing.

Zigackly! I just wish...1. I could find it within myself to distill my growing collection, and 2. find a woman who can put up with me :D:D

One 1958 tweed Champ I bought for next to nothing and repaired. It rocks!
One Yamaha Synth I found in the garbage :hyper:

My wife encouraged me to buy both basses and both amps. Gotta love that woman. We need a smiley for love.
