Hey, I wasn't there, just stirring the pot for any meat that sunk to the bottom.
So really you have no idea how many shots went through the back end and stuck vs how many went right through the windows.
No. Let us know if you find out. As far as the windows, I would hope that guys getting shot at would duck. Instinctively.

When I get pulled over by the fuzz I put both hands on the wheel or the window frame where they can see em. if youre a passenger you put your hands on the dash. backseat you put them on the seat in front of you. look i don't hate cops but I'm telling you wehn they walk up to your car they both already have their hands on sidearms. so warm.

Good God, you can't possibly compare a Buick to a Volvo! I was hoping you'd find a pic of the actual car....I'm curious myself. But not very sympathetic toward Mr.Mansanto. His passenger maybe.
Volvo's used to be quite heavy, don't know about newer ones, or old Buicks.
I saw pics of typical pistol rounds gone clean through the trunk of a early 90's Ford, and out the other side. The door linings must soak some power. Seems reasonable to go Rambo on the car in the general direction of baddies without too many worries about slugs coming out the other side. I wonder how much of the talk of bullets sprayed about the neighbourhood is just yap, how much is from the ricochet bullets, how much from total misses and shots through windows.

That is Awesome - thank you! I'm counting 12-13 through the windshield. I wish the door was closed, it seems like the hit pattern pattern peters out toward rear edge of the door. This is better shooting then I was imagining. From a crouched position at that distance most people will tend to hit low, not high. Especially after the first shot. imo
i'm going to suggest that they were told to show their hands a few dozen times and did not comply.... a chase usually ends that way....
what i don't hear is any attempt by the perps to show their hands out the window.....the cops would have been screaming for that,and the "non bullet" damage to the car would suggest they were not incapacitated .......That is Awesome - thank you! so if they didn't,how would that look to the cops......maybe something like a butch and sundance ending ....who knows?...everyone and their dog has seen enough tv to know that a cop doing even a routine traffic stop will be watching for that.....the passenger side window looks like it may have even been open at the time....
That car is stuck, not going anywhere. They had the guys pinned down. Might've turned into a lengthy standoff, but those guys weren't getting anywhere away from that car.
To the cops credit, it looks like a whole lot of rounds at least hit the car, and from the angle of the photo, it appears there is a stand of trees behind the target.
Without seeing the other side of the car though, there are considerably less than 377 holes in it. Estimating maybe 50-ish? from this viewing angle. Even if there is twice as many we can't see, that's still a whole lot of rounds ending up somewhere other than in the target.
Re: headshots. That's not all that easy at any appreciable distance with a pistol. Most heads come with a body attached, so you aim a foot or two below the visible head in hopes of hitting the body.
Most pistols don't have the punch to go through a windshield when fired from a distance either, they'll glance up and away when striking the windshield from a shallow angle like that. This due to the contruction/design of the shatterproof windshield. A high powered rifle certainly will penetrate though.
The 9 millimeter pistol that is so popular is because it holds a lot of rounds, not because it's an overly powerful round. Plenty enough to kill you, certainly, but doesn't pack the punch/have the penetration of a .45 or any "magnum" type round (.357, .44, etc.).
Our military changed it's issue to the 9 mil. from the old .45's because it holds twice as many rounds and has less recoil. It's supposed to be a "last resort" short range weapon, just to send out a lot of lead to get yourself out of immediate harms way. Not really a "offensive" weapon.
.40 caliber Glocks are pretty popular with law enforcement as well. I'm not familiar with those. A semi-educated guess would say they're sort of an "in-between". The old .45's could knock down just about anything but the semi-auto's still only held 7, maybe 8 rounds and had a lot of recoil. High recoil means more time between shots while maintaining accuracy. The .40 holds a decent amount of rounds, maybe 10, and would still have better knock down power than the 9 mil. More recoil as well but not as much as the .45. Cost would be a consideration as well as a lot of cops buy and carry their own sidearms. A 9 millimeter Beretta is one expensive handgun (Italian).

But, somebody could still keep coming at after being hit if it wasn't a kill shot. With the old .45's, basically, if you just hit them somewhere, they were falling backwards.

The mission wasn't accomplished because justice want served. That is a product of the justice system, jury of peers, access to an attorney, all those Amendments you probably have encountered in a civics class at some point.
This was a group of cops killing two men. That's more akin to a lynch mob than justice.

The guy reportedly shot a cop, so it instantly turns from apprehension to assasination with high-fives all around and a bunch of hoo-rah in the locker room. Lots of butt slapping and peepee rubbing.
