How many cops does it take to stop a car? 23

This wasn't a well-planned assassination. Firing into a broader target zone is a reasonable practice, particularly if your firepower is not such that it is guaranteed to penetrate any obstructing material. The handguns most cops in that situation were using would only have about a 50/50 chance of penetrating the various materials of the car and striking the target. The cops knew they were in the passenger compartment and swiss-cheesed the car. In this case it was that fine baby swiss with lots of tiny holes.
Nonsense. If you're aiming at what you can see, the head, you're aiming right out the rear window if you miss

For all you cop bashers, did you ever consider that there are millions of interactions between cops and citizens every day, and the vast majority of them are for the public benefit, whether it's recovering a kidnapped child or rescuing a driver from a roll-over accident? ... or getting a drunk driver off the street or taking a wife-beater to jail? So if you heard about one bad cop event every day in the news, that would still only be representative of less than one one-millionth of the interactions. Cops have to deal with very stressful, sometimes life-ending, situations and the worst of scumbags every day as part of their job. How would you like to do your job under those conditions?

Yes there are bad cops - they're the ones you use to paint them all with the same brush. The punishment for criminal cops should be more severe that that of "ordinary" criminals. But 99 percent of cops do a good job and actually want to help the public. The other one percent should be in jail.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, cop haters are a category of people with whom I want to have no association. I doubt there are many criminals who like cops.

I don't always agree with Munjibunga, but when I do, sometimes its about cop haters.

They weren't at that kind of angle . Most of the shots were from the rear and side-angle. Sounds like the car got shot in the hips and @zz. The car was stuck up between a telephone pole and a tree, in the backyard of a townhouse. At night. This was nowhere near optimal for anyone. Here is the Maimi CBS version.

.....the car was wedged helplessly between a light pole and a tree, nearly a minute passed before officers opened up – firing approximately 50 bullets at the car and the two unarmed men inside the vehicle.

The two men inside the car survived that initial volley of gunfire, according to witnesses, who said they could see the men moving inside the Volvo. Everything went quiet for nearly two minutes before the officers opened up a second time – unleashing an unrelenting torrent of bullets that lasted almost 25 seconds. By the time it was over, the two men inside the car were dead.

CBS4 News has learned a total of 23 officers fired a total of at least 377 rounds. http://miami.cbslocal.com/2014/05/06/police-shooting-frenzy-raises-concerns/
