I don't really get this - is it just when the bass is new and the finish is "fresh", or whatever the proper expression is? Or is this something you guys in cold climates have to be aware of when you take a bass out on a freezing cold day - eg only open the case once your in the venue/let the temperature even out if you're doing a super cold outdoor gig?
With my climate I'm just curious really, mine are rarely outside in under 0C/32F. It's the 40C+/105F+ that worry me…
I don't get it either, and that's why I posted this thread. I'm not a professional musician, so I have no personal experience to draw from, but I expect that touring musicians deal with weather variations on a regular basis. I can't imagine that they have the luxury of treating their instruments with such care...
