How much do you drink at a gig?

As for the band tab...... we try to comp drinks if possible (considering I drink only coke and other other two have maybe one beer a set....usually can). If there's a tab, I'm staying off of it-I pay cash or give whoever brought me the coke the money for it :). Tabs way too easy to manuever or get someone ripped off .

The Roadhouse / Biker bars I usually gig in provide free beer to the band, and the occasional drink. During breaks I turn down way more drinks than I accept from customers, especially since they're paying and I'm not, and getting paid as well.
I do try to limit my intake, not always successfully, because I'm afraid of losing my license and having my wife drive me to work for 3 months.
Plus, drinking affects the playing after a while, and it sure doesn't make loading gear at 3am any more fun.

"Is 'Utah beer' like NW beer (booze content anywhere from 5.0 to 10.0 percent by volume)?" (cheapbasslovin)

Utah beer is 3.2 beer but Utah laws are pretty strict abouot drinking and driving. I believe if it ison your breath and the cop "believes" you are impared it does not matter if you blow a .03 or not you are busted. (Yes .03)

Utah is the only state I don't drink in.

I often got rides to/from the practice space. And cab it home after unloading gear. Living in Boston, I didn't own a car for a long time. I'd put down 3 before, 1-2 onstage, and 4 after. Bass - one string at a time, it's a beautiful thing. I could never play guitar well with 5 in me. Bass, no problem. Don't gig much now - no band, night work and little kids. I'll get back at it a couple of years. I'm 34. I don't pound like I did in my 20s. Me and my old mates are lucky with all the shït we did. We'd get more bent at practices, definitely.

Spoken like a true lawyer!!!!...the guy gives excellent advice...the lawyer gets bogged down in legal minutae

I drink beer and toke a couple puffs at practice with my bro's, but when gig time comes, it's one or two beers max until we're off the stage.

And NO pot until after we perform - makes stupid mistakes amongst me and the members - people forget parts and all that...
Maybe a few years ago back in my jamband days, but not in a serious gigging band trying to do something with themselves...
