How much do you get paid per gig?

We don't play for less than $100 per man for a five man band. The gigs are 3 one hour sets. We do 2-3 bar gigs a month on weekends, playing british invasion to the 80's covers. These are places that don't charge a cover. We usually get more for private parties.

$100+ a man is the minimum if i am playing covers at all...originals I am typically willing to play for less, but those sets are usually shorter. I do a lot of fill in work for desperate musicians (not always good) and I usually ask $100.00 because in most cases you have to deal with travel time to and from rehearsal in advance of the gig, the time put into learning the music in advance of the gig, and then the gig itself. Usually after all expenses (primarily travel costs) you don't make to much. Best gig ever was a 45 minute set at a college in which my full band couldn't play so we did it as a trio, they still honored the $1000.00 payment to the band, the band didn't take any money from it so i walked with $330.00 for 45 minutes, and this show was 10 minutes away from my house. He is a real descriptive breakdown of how i charge. SOLO ACOUSTIC $150.00 for 3 hours $200.00 for 4 hours, DUO acoustic and hand percussion $250.00 3 hours, $300 for four hours, Trio $400.00, Any bass gig in the State $100.00, outside of state takes a little more time to determine.

I'm in a classic rock/blues cover band. We normally get $100 per person per gig. A normal bar gig consists of four 45 min sets. Private parties pay a bit more. These are for local gigs (within 30 minutes of home). If we were traveling out of town it would be more.

Our gigs range from free (just pays for PA) to $1500+. My pay varies. If a gig pays the band less than $150 I get told it's a free rehearsal and get free food. If a gig pays over $1000 I make $125. Anything else I make between $50 and $75.

I recently quit this band because, um, the music wasn't satisfying. Yes, that's it.

I find the gigging process difficult in my area at this point. We're a cover band, but not with a booking agency (B/C we don't want to give up the control and also b/c we play 2 to 3 times a month - if we were an agency band, we'd be at their mercy). I won't take a gig for less than $100/head (4-piece) and it's still a pretty tough run right now.

We Shoot for $100 each Minimum...Plus sound guy.
So , about $700(ish) for the band (min.).
(4 guys in the band)

HOWEVER, even in this current band, We've walked out with as little as 40 each.
In a lot of cases, if they don't wanna pay that much "sight unseen", we'll give them a break for the first show, and after that, the rate goes up to what we normally charge.

Sometimes that's what ya gotta do to get your foot in the door.
