Trolls are easy to spot. They usually start a post with a single sentence containing at least 45 words.

And no punctuation at all.

From my experience, most (ok, many) people use the descriptor 'troll' when they simply disagree with the original post(er) and do not have the cognitive capacity to argue their own point. YMMV.

I dunno, I've always felt that nobody was generally less of a troll and more just being funny, having a joke. I've always made the distinction of trolls trying to do things at a person's expense or just inciting conflict through posting about skub - for the lulz, as it were - whereas a joke is just about getting people to laugh a bit. One thing is about what you can get from a community, another is about what you can give a community.

I'm finding that it is getting harder and harder to pick whether some thread OP's are simply trolls, have English as a second language, are very young and naive or are, to use an Aussie saying "a couple of kangaroos short in the top paddock".

I thought the saying was, "He's a few tinnies short of a slab".

Kinda my point, to a newcomer, who wasn't around during Nobody's heyday, if you come across one or two of his posts in isolation... I can see a newbie thinking he's king troll of the local bridge. But if you were here, and 'followed' his shenanigans, it was obviously entertainment.
