How to setup a power conditioner to bass head?

Thanks for info. I never claimed it was turned on and if that's what was understood, my apologies. It was just plugged in to the wall. just wanted to share why a device like that was much more beneficial for me than the regular dollar store power strip. Life is too short.

If you don't turn on the "dollar store power strip" like you didn't turn this one on, then the results would have been exactly the same since they are agency listed (and thus tested) to exactly the same specifications.

What's important is that folks UNDERSTAND what they are claiming as well as UNDERSTAND what is being claimed.

Unfortunately, there are illegal products that claim that they are certified when they aren't. Beware of some low end products, you often get what you pay for.

For example, there are switching power supplies for LED lighting that claim FCC compliance that are fraudulent. They spray interference all over the spectrum which causes problems with other devices. Unfortunately it often takes a formal complaint to get the FCC to investigate. Their resources are limited.

Fair enough. Like I said, I'm not against them. I just think an educated consumer is a happy consumer ultimately. Read the info, do the research and make up your own mind what to buy, but you should know what you're getting.

What works for me is I use one of these in my bass/eDrum rig - its a heavy duty rack mounted power strip. Very handy and gives access to extra outlets whenever needed.

I have one of these plugged in the front to monitor line voltage, polarity, and ground safety. Lets me know when to hollar at the owner/manager.

Some of these units offer surge protection.

It is important to keep in mind that surge protectors can blow open if they are hit hard enough by a surge. The unit keeps functioning without them but you no longer have surge protection. Some units have fault lights that tell you if they have blown so you can have them replaced. This is a nice feature to look for if you are buying one of these units. Otherwise, you have no idea if the surge protectors are doing their intended job.

This thread reminds me of the guy a few years ago that came to check out a VCR/DVD combo that I had listed on CL. He wanted to "transfer" a bunch of old VHS tapes to DVD, I tried to tell him this unit wouldn't really do that, but he had done "research" and assured me it was what he needed. So I let him buy it.

Which reminds me, guys, how do I plug my VCR into my paint mixer? I want to make sure my videos come out in full color. Do I need to use primer first? The VCR is 2.5 amps and the paint mixer is 5, will this be ok? I don't want to underpower anything.
