This. And tell them why you’re leaving.
Why? It's not his responsibility to educate them where they messed up. Just up and leave and let them figure it out. ...or not.

This. And tell them why you’re leaving.

I'd say your assessment is probably accurate. Life's too short to worry about it. They could have just fired you, so as clumsy as the transition was, it could have been worse. If you don't want to play with Bob and Stu, then walk, but I wouldn't waste any energy figuring out the politics of this move.
Sounds like you have a perfectly functional project as it is. What would you do if you never found about the "other" band? You'd probably be perfectly happy about this project. So unless the "other" band starts presenting conflicts, who cares what they do?
Thank you.
That's one of the points I'm having the most trouble with. This guy (Rick) already bailed on us once before. How or why would you trust him? That's what makes me almost think this thing was premeditated. He leaves, gets his boy John, lets things cool down for a couple of months and then they restart the project without me.
Band drama...sigh
So evidently it’s not a total shock that this has happened. If you never liked him, he probably knows it. I’m sure you have good reasons, but this would explain his plotting. Some people deal with things straight up, others don’t.You got that right. Never liked him from the start. You know those people you just have a bad feeling about from the start? Yeah....
The question is do I "accept it" by continuing to play in our current line up with Bob and Stu. Or do I walk away because I feel they did me wrong. I'm strongly leaning toward leaving them all behind. If I just got replaced, ok, but the way this all went down (is going down?) just seems very wrong to me.
Some good takes, but this one is my fave.If it bugs you[*], walk away, politely[**], and don't look back. Life's too short, and everybody needs a bass player.
* - (And you know it bugs you.)
** - "Politely" does not imply that you have to spend one second explaining yourself to anyone.
What did they do wrong? Do you think they started a new band with you, found a guitar player, learned a bunch of songs and booked some gigs all as an elaborate cover for getting you out of the other band? As someone else said, if they are holding down their end, I'm not sure what your problem is.The question is do I "accept it" by continuing to play in our current line up with Bob and Stu. Or do I walk away because I feel they did me wrong. I'm strongly leaning toward leaving them all behind. If I just got replaced, ok, but the way this all went down (is going down?) just seems very wrong to me.
I'd tie each one to a chair and wrap cling film around their heads, then stand eating an apple while they fought for dear life to draw their last breath
...no really!
