I don't know if 20 weeks on the charts constitutes a huge hit, but I've never heard anyone do this:
Has anybody here covered Shai's "If I Ever Fall In Love"?
It was huge back then, but seems to be almost forgotten today, plus the vocal harmonies would make it difficult to cover. The early 90s had quite a bit of stuff like this.
I really shouldn't be arguing about things like this on the Internet, but 8 weeks at number 2 on Billboard while "I Will Always Love You" was number 1... not bad.It may have been a hit, but it was not huge. The a cappella version may have been as big if not bigger than the band remix. As a "one hit wonder" group, without the dancing and stage presence many of their contemporaries had a ballad from them it may have been a street corner song for vocal groups or an audition song for singing contest but not something individuals or bands used.
we did that song in hi school! it was back when it was contemporary. Along with, like Abacab. People liked them.
