You are correct, and I also do not remember it. I wonder how long it stayed on the charts. That's why I thought it was an R&B hit. I must have slept through that period of pop music history.

I'd say almost all of the 80s post-punk/New Wave stuff goes untouched.

It always surprised me how few Duran Duran covers there are. Mnemic does Wild Boys, but where's Hungry like the Wolf??

(I always thought a Warren Zevon 'tribute' band would be awesome ...... No one else seems to think so ......)

Funny thing is I hear Linda Ronstadt's version of "Poor Poor Pitiful Me" much more often than the original

You hear her cover of half a dozen songs more than the originals, practically her whole career is built on it.

FWIW, I think she and that crack band/production team improved on most of them.

We covered all three of these in my last 80s band...

I was in two bands that covered Undun; one was a jazzy/bluesy power trio and despite the band being pretty good overall, it was very, very bad when we tried that song. Only happened a couple of times.

But the other band played it well: 6-piece with flute and strong lead vocalist. One of my favorite bass lines to play.

That is such a cool and unique song and not easy to pull off I am sure.
