I bet the OP probably had a phone conversation in which this kid probably cried and apologized and put his parents on the line to negotiate the whole situation. That's what i figured, and i'm hopeful you do indeed get your bass back, but the best chance of getting this guy to stop doing this is to get the authorities involved. Isn't mail fraud a federal offense?

Mail fraud is, but maybe not f they used UPS/Fedex/???

You started this thread and expect to get help support and opinions, but then are selective about the details, this is a serious thing,
I hope you get it back, but how can you be so sure, you'll get it back this guy is a con A, and he's probably going to cover his tracks pretty good, this is mail fraud and a federal offense , at minimum a felony with a sentence attached in a federal -prison, Did you make any verbal contact with the guy?
I'd be on that phone with law enforcement ASAP in the morning.

JPATA / Twix is reading all of this and I hope he ships my Bass tomorrow morning. It is very unfortunate that the locals were closed. and apparently are over the weekend.

JPATA ships my Bass Back and await contact from the authorities. If this was isolated I think the public lashing would do it, but with this horrible pattern requires that more be done. I hope the fear of Law Enforcement does not encourage you to burn my bass out back as this thread is exhibit A.

Everyone that helped, I am forever grateful and do see that you are right. This needs to be addressed by more than Batman.

As a thrash metal enthusiast, I denounce this. It is very insulting, sir. That said, I am not immune to the satire and humor to which metal is subjected to. Mention any bass but this. Very well then gents, have a fine evening.

Granite Falls, aside from being a meth happy place, only has about 3,000 or so residents so you aren't far off. Many of the small towns in these parts have very few officers and have an on call roster for after hours, but all use the same 911 system so realistically it's normally not a problem in a real emergency. Finding a scum bag who ripped you off on a bass deal probably won't get anyones attention until Tuesday but a complaint can be lodged in the mean time.

Well thanks for the comeback Rob. I guess if it were me I'd be a bit frustrated that I could reach anyone until Tuesday. Crooks don't take the Memorial Day weekend off and both he and that bass could be anywhere by Tuesday. The OP won't even see it until after that.

I just hope this brings more awareness and untill this guy faces what he has done and recieves punishment watch out for 0% traders now and in the future, its really common sense but here is a great example why not.
