Human Gear ANIMATO

See the reason I sold my original animato was that it turned my bass into the muse sounding bass (which I didn't want) and that I could get similar and better (to my ears obviously) tones from my
Cranetortoises and some others

I think this copy pedal is good, especially for the cheap cheap price, but not for those after the animato muse sounds.

I agree, but you have to look at what it is we are looking to copy. The only notable person using this pedal on bass is Muse. They were the first, and are still the only mainstream group that uses it.

Of course it will sound like them, and only them until someone else uses it and makes it big. I use mine all over the place in my original act, and I love it. I use it for covers too. The thing I really like about it is that it is clear, and hi-fi sounding (not muddy or muffled) but dirty. It plays very well with guitarists. The tone is in the right spot to allow distortion and still allow the guitarist to have his own sonic room. Blended with clean, it is an eargasm of tone.

But it all really depends on what you are looking for. I am on a new kick, chasing the Circa Survive tone on "Imaginary Enemy". Ironically, it is almost exact with the animato/clean blend. I am on the hunt for a big box Rat from pre 2001. I know the tone characteristics are close to the same, but once I get a Rat, I'll do another video comparison between them to show how different they really are.

I personally have never been a fan of light OD or even light distortion, because it never seemed to translate well with distorted guitars. At least for me, in rock. I also, dislike the low-fi sounds some pedals get (Hematoma without mods). I like a little treble zing in the path, and super dark OD just doesn't punch through. My pedulla already has a little crunch to it.

As for the clone, as I said before, the pedal dimed sounds like the settings you get with a real animato setup like Wolstenholmes. At least, it does for me, but we all know how close our rigs are to each others. I think others will love it, but it really depends on what they want to use it for.

I think the switch is just below the middle knob, and the LED is just above it. It looks to me to be the same clone as kaput's... But it is being sold under a different seller name... The person I was looking at buying a clone from was called "skorpiotech_66" but he doesn't have anything for sale anymore. Don't know what happened, 'cause he had 10 or so different pedals for sale...

EDIT: just had a look at the new seller, I recon that "skorpiotech_66" either changed his name, or is now using a different account.

Found another Italian clone. This one seems to be a bit different than the one in Kaputs demo and I don't see the switch.

That is the exact same pedal I had. The box is still plastic, and comes in two colors, white and black.

I got the black by default. Both are configured the same, and will some the same, or as close as a hand made clone could be.

kaputsport: I found a Human Gear Animato for about 495 euro (I know expensive). Worth it??? I do like that nasal quality it has, I reckon it will help the distortion cut through in a bandsetting. However, I have a Darkglass Microtubes B3K on the way...

As long as it has low-end...

Juan Alderete said it best: "I don't like using a blender. It's like you're never in it 100%."

It has absolutely no low end what so ever. You literally will hate it if you are looking to have low end in your signal. The reason this pedal sounds so good with a blend is because the upper frequencies are distorted and over power the clean upper frequencies. You get all the nasty shrill distortion, but retain the lows with the blend and it makes a sound not like other pedals out there because of the blend alone.

kaputsport how many do you have now, three? I just want one, really wish I hadn't sold mine.

I have one. I sold the clone, and have my one signed by muse.

Think I might buy it and live like a bum for a month. It does sound quite good in your youtube-vid, kaputsport.

Every thing you hear on my youtube video is blended 50/50. Again, no blend, no low end. It is as simple as that.

You could say this about any number of distortion/fuzz pedals, many of which are cheap and easy to find...
