I am getting sued for being a hero

As said before,no good deed goes unpunished.I'm done with helping people.

Also,if you have lots of money,go visit her at the hospital, grab a crowbar and break her other leg.Pay the fee.
If they charge you with assault and there becomes jail time involved, tell the jury what happened sure they'd understand,if not bribe them.

you win the internet.

oh, and when you break her leg, be sure to scream "HOW DO YOU LIKE ME NOW, B****!"

Let's see, they will prove 'how' you broke her leg. Uh huh.

Sorry it turned out this way.

There was a family that slammed on the brakes, and entered the fast food restaurant where I was standing in line. They were shouting for help for their boy that was choking. Fortunately, he cleared a few seconds later. Most people are fearful of jumping in due to good samaritans being sued. What a World!

I've seen it all man. I've had idiots come after me for pulling their drunk-ass drowning bodies out of the water. Mom's yelling at me for making them late because I didn't pull their kid out of a rip fast enough, not to mention all the bs I've dealt with regarding medical aids. People are idiots. I've been doing this for almost 20 years and I've never been sued. Even with letters like this.

This lawsuit will go nowhere. I can only guess that this slimy lawyer is hoping you'll get scared and pay money to settle.

Look up "good Samaritan law"
It protects people from lawsuits when they help a person in distress. Even if a rescuer injures a person (which you didn't, anyway) the law protects the rescuer from liability as long as he acts in good faith.

My guess is the lawyer is looking for insurance.

Get the advice of a lawyer in Illinois. Looking over good samaritan laws for Illinois I'm not sure you would be covered as it states nothing of someone who is a bystander. Only those with medical skill, first responders, fire, police, those with certification for CPR.

Spending a cursory 5 minutes googling came up with no protection for some guy doing the right thing.

Report the police officer also, it's his job to check on the woman's welfare and he didn't.

NOW DISPARAGE HER ON THE INTERNET, Photoshop is your friend.

Too bad hindsight isn't 20/20. If it was, I would have let the skank drown! She apparently deserves it. I don't care how sleazy her lawyer (may) be, she is ultimately responsible for her own actions.

As much as I hate to say it, I have to agree with the "no good deed goes unpunished" sentiment. The more slimy and egocentric you are, the better off you'll be. Problem is, my morals don't allow that behavior. :/

Get the most expensive team of lawyers u can find/afford and counter sue her for legal fees.
Just make sure she takes it to court.
No Judge or Jury will find you liable.

Sad part is people like that breed everyday.....
