So I've been looking for a reasonably priced 5 string to keep at the practice space and be ok with leaving in the car at work. I lowball bid on a G&L tribute L2500, and actually got it. I'm happy to have it at the price, but honestly I was hoping I got outbid to avoid the wrath of the wife. In my defense, I let her know it was so reasonable that a couple of gigs will cover it. I've seen lots of posts on accidental bass purchases, looks like I have joined your club

I am very happy with the purchase, I've wanted another G&L since I got rid of my early 80s L1000 probably 20 years ago. I may have just pulled the trigger a little sooner than I meant to (I just bought another bass a couple months ago) yes it gets very hot in VA which is why I don't want to leave some of my other basses in the car. The G&L will most likely stay at the practice space and I'm sure it will make its way out to gigs as well

I pick up my accidental purchase this Sunday after an agonizing 6 week wait. Put in a stupid lowball price with a sniping service, told the wife i didn't expect to win at that price, and got it for $394 (Aussie Dollars). For a Godin Shifter 4 that's barely been played it was a steal. It was my first use of a sniping service after getting sniped on a couple of other basses at the last second. I think it's the first time i've really wanted to go to the big smoke in years.:laugh:

Oh baloney, I call bs on the car thing. Been playing 50 yrs. and leaving gear in cars just as long. Leo designed em to be more or less indestructible. It's a tool. Worry about your Fodera, F bass, custom or whatever. I have left Fenders in cars in the summer where I'm sure the car was about 150 degrees out and in sub freezing temps down to 0 and below too. The WORST thing that's ever happened was finish crazing. Sure I wouldn't do it if I didn't have to but let's be honest. It's a tool. With the exception of the finish its just slightly more delicate than a drill or chop saw. Prettier yes more Fragile no. I'm sure I'll get flamed for this but there it is.

Oh yea I just kinda accidentally bought a new bass the other day, details on the Tune later.

Yea that's the the most dangerous part and I have had all my gear stolen. I had just loaded out of the Hyatt in downtown Sacramento. The guys called me back for a happy birthday shot with the leader. I walked back in said happy happy and shot and walked back outside. Less than 2 mins. Cleaned out. Nobody told me the park next door was called crackhead park. Duho! Always cover your gear. Better yet at least move the car from where you loaded it and come back if you have to load and stay.

Maybe for bass guitars but acoustic guitars are another matter altogether. A mate had his favorite Maton in the car, his wife insisted on doing some nature walk which left the car in the sun for 3 hours in Australia in summer. When he got back the first thing he did was check his guitar which had basically ripped the face off itself. He's no longer married to that girl.
