I CAN'T MAKE UP MY MIND ABOUT MEN!!!!!!!

I met my wife when I quit looking for my wife. I thought I'd be single forever. I was 38 when we got married, 40 when we had our beautiful daughter.

Sometimes you need to stop trying to make things happen and leave it to "fate" for lack of a more socially acceptable term.

I was about to quit playing bass as I never gigged and thought I was just wasting time and money. Sold everything but a combo amp and one bass. Within a month I was in a regularly gigging band and have been playing steady since.

I like how you equate meeting your wife with your relationship with bass. LOL. ;)

Yeah, I'm pretty sure he either met someone else or there's some other reason. He said he didn't like my religion, that could be part of it too.

Putting myself in his shoes, that would definitely be part of it for me. Then again if I dug the girl enough to go out with her in the first place then I wouldn't really care what her religion is, so dont worry too much about it, he's an insecure jerk thats all there is to it ;)

When I got married I was told by a pastor that my marriage would 100% fail because my wife was brought up as a christian and I wasn't. What he didn't count on is that we don't try to convert each other. So we don't ever argue about it although our views are not 100% the same.

Oh well, his loss.

Good luck. I hope when you have kids and it's time to get up nice and early on Sunday morning for church, which is an absolute blast, your wife is cool with you saying "Actually I'm just gonna watch the game...have fun"

I understand were your coming from but neither my 6 or 4 year old attend church. One thing we agree on is to allow our kids to believe in what they do instead of brainwashing them.

So far so good.

Religion never really was a problem nor did it really come up in any way, shape or form. I never tried to convert him or push beliefs on him or ask him to go to church. But his friends kept finding stuff about it on the Internet and then telling him. And then I'd have to set him straight, usually with a "do you believe EVERYTHING you read on the internet?"

My thought is they probably didn't want him to have a girlfriend since none of them had girlfriends, and actually his brother was the worst and his brother NEVER had a girlfriend EVER. They made fun of him if he ditched "guys night out" (which was every Friday and Saturday night) to hang out with me. We're talking about guys who start drinking and smoking pot at 10 in the morning while they play video games until it's time to go out. There's such a thing as the "Third Party Law" where two people who get along great will not fight unless a third party gets involved. And we did get along great, when his friends weren't interfering with lies and making fun of him.

Hindsight is always 20/20. I'm not going to separate a guy from his friends, if they are all that immature there's nothing I can do! Maybe one day they'll all put down the doobie and wake up. Then again, maybe not. (HE didn't smoke pot, I don't date pot smokers).

Here's a scoop Disenchant.......In today's society, Men have bought into the stereotypes put forth about men. Lazy, stupid, couch potatos who watch sports and porn, and have horrible personal hygiene.

Welcome to society. You need a man with a mind, goals, direction, and focus. He's not necessarilly going to be HOT, and not always going to be an Adonis. Find a guy with a brain, and you will have a much better chance of finding committment, and devotion, as well as passion and ambition.

The more that physical appearance comes into play, the more YOU will have to work to find one suitable. Those that are driven by looks, style, and fashion, rarely have time to develop intellectually or in maturity, as their focus is on look and status.

There are plenty of good lookin guys that are looking for relationships, but you need to frequent the places where they frequent. I don't know Elgin well, so I can't help there, but think toward more intellectual frequented places, from Museums, and Art galleries to Coffee Houses and Dinner Club type places if they are prevolent in your area.

I met my wife in a Coffee House, when I was 34. I'm 41 now, and couldn't be happier. I was going through the same type of dillema with women, as you are with men.
Good Luck to you

As a pothead myself I find this post offensive :bawl:

You'd be surprised what you can believe when your stoned. BTW, if you DO go and they pass around this thing with little crackers in it...you don't eat all of them. You only get ONE (***?) and then you have to pass it on to make room for your refreshing tall glass of grape juice.

I wouldn't be surprised, thats my point. lol.
