I don't care what you haters say!

Never liked it until I played it. Then I loved it.

Same here. Played a friends Bongo 6 and new I had to get a 5 string!

No, I can't say I have :rollno: But I was just judging on the looks. A bass can have a very good tone but if I don't like what I see I don't desire it much :smug:

If you every play one, you may fall in love. The tone is wonderful, but so are the ergonomics.

Congrats on the new Bongo and welcome to the club.

Yet another Bass player who has been converted by the tremendous power of the Mighty Bongo!!!

Thank you sir! You and your stealth Bongo certainly had an influence on me getting my lady in red. :D

I wonder how many of the haters have only seen the Bongo in product photos, but have never seen them being played. I think they look much cooler in action than they do just laying down on a flat surface. I also think it is like a "coolness" magnifier: rather than just looking cool on its own, it magnifies the inherent coolness of the player. So, if you see someone playing a Bongo and they don't look cool doing so, well...Bongo x zero equals zero, so... ;)

I have to agree. A bongo being played looks 10 times better than a Bongo hanging on the wall of GC.

Don't underestimate the advantage that if you don't like the bongo you always have a spare toilet seat lid. ;)

Never been the biggest fan on the look of a bongo, but they are great to play and sound wonderful, which is the most important part.

Great bass ! I love it , wish I could get myself to buy it, I'm totally definetly in love with everything on it except : The dreadful (to me) price tag, and the double battery pre/pup...

and hat's of to you madbassplaya! It's always good to hear someone has found a bass they like!

(usually it's the other way around)

That was my epiphany moment with the Bongo. I never bought into the "toilet seat" thing but when I saw this photo, I was like, "Ahhhhh -- that's working for me!"

I love the looks but the EQ is a little too high techy for me

I know it has a wealth of tones and such the other bassist at my church has a beautiful Bongo 5

I love EBMM stuff in fact I have 2 of their basses

I love EBMM stuff too. And the 4 band pre is amazing. You don't have to twiddle with knobs. Just set it flat and play! :D

Same here. I saw a video of Dave LaRue. This one actually:

I thought, man, that bass looks sleek!

HI

My buddy has John Myung's old Bongo. I played it the other night. Played great. Dont care for its looks but sounds great and plays great

Rob

Hmmmm, what's going on with John's Neeeeew Bongo...

Read somewhere online in his interview he requested changes that may be implemented in the Bongo 6

Interesting...

I never got the toilet seat calling but to me they look like goldfish (the snack) it looks good being played but that lower horn bothers me. I am pretty sure I will never own one just because of the look.
Now I would not mind owning a Big Al, and I also like the Reflex.

Joey, why you hatin?

oh man, I'm not hating, I like the Bongo, it sounds good and it plays well, I just could not buy one because of its looks, same reason I cannot see myself with a Linc Luthier or Carl Thompson.. both nice instruments but not to my liking. I guess I am indoctrinated in the Leo design, give me a Stingray, P or J any time, those designs are timeless.
