For better or for worse
he is my generation's
Kip Winger
All I'm going to say is that I highly doubt Pete Wentz could get a sideman gig backing one of the most influential artists to come out of the '70s (Alice Cooper), be a first-call session bassist in NYC, start what was most likely the most technically skilled band of the "hair metal" (Reb Beach? Rod Morgenstein of The Dregs?!?) and generally be a talented "Jack of All Trades" (fretted and fretless bass, electric, acoustic, and classical guitar, keyboards, songwriting and arranging). I knew Kip Winger, and Pete Wentz is no Kip Winger!
As for Wentz, his skill as a bassist is only rivaled by his skill at overdosing on Ativan... which is to say, he has an extremely hard time succeeding at either.
