I don't much like facebook

First, not too familiar with how it all works.

Second, and this is the biggie, I accept friend requests or try and friend some of my old friends from back in the day (okay, way back in the day) and I don't recognize these quasi senior citizens! I mean they have the same name but they cannot possibly be my friends who were skinny and with hair last I saw them.

facebook just makes me sad.

Ha, almost all of my peers from back in my hometown look and seem waaay older. I must have matured (that's completely debatable) differently, or there's something in the water there.

FB is good for keeping up with those old (seeming) folks from back in the day, getting to know newer friends, local events, etc

Here's what I do like on FB - Even though I'm getting to be a fat, old SOB, women seem to still be attracted to me (as a musician, i suppose??). So, my old buddies who are now married, and haven't touched other women in years or decades, get super jealous and think I'm seeing a ton of women who are substantially younger and prettier than I am... A few in particular always seem to pepper me with questions in attempts to live vicariously through me. I kinda love it, and they don't need to know the reality.

Well sometimes you do find people of the same name and/or location and it's not them. But if you don't like it I have the best solution: don't go there.

Well, its a social media portal, not a time portal. Sorry :(

I have a big family that is all over the place and FB allows me to keep in touch with them. It also allows me to keep up with other bands, and inform people about my band.
The down side is the idiot meme spamming. The amount of brain dead stuff people find on the internet and repost without taking two seconds to verify is amazing. I cannot wait for this election to be over.

I keep in contact with friends and cousins. It's sort of dying, from what I hear, in bigger cities, especially with the youths, and it's HORRIBLE for promoting your band beyond your small group of personal friends, but it's great for knowing what's going on in my little circle of friends and family.

The political stuff is too much, though. It really drives people away. (Though, I did post a "I stand with Standing Rock" post earlier today... which I consider fairly apolitical and a basic human rights issue...)

Snapchat took a bite of the user base and ultimately, IMO places like TB will grow and folks will migrate around special interest sites. FB and others will be around as the new White Pages.

Funny but FB is now used by other sites to 'verify' your identity.

I just re activated my FB account recently. I am looking for a new band & the first few prospects wanted to see my pages.

Only reason I have FB is my kids post pix of the grandkids.
I never post on it or accept friend requests.
If I want to message you, I'll email or call.
LinkedIn is just Facebook for the working world.
Both send spam to my inbox daily. That is why I have a separate gmail account just for
annoying websites or craigslist inquiries.

I don't get any spam from FB ... unless you set your notifications from people to be sent to your email.
